QT & Storyboards

Just wondering if anyone has any info on how Quentin storyboards his movies and if he uses a storyboard artist or if he just does it himself. Its been puzzling me for a long time!

I don’t think he does use them. He does not look at the playback monitor either.

For Kill Bill he used Janet Kusnick for storyboard art according to her resume

He used one for Pulp Fiction, don’t remember where I read this, but I read it somewhere.

since his films aren’t overly elaborate as to shooting techniques (at least up till kill bill they weren’t really), I think it’s safe to say that as long as he had the shots in his head and could explain to the DP and the crew how to set them up, storyboards were probably a waste of time, or they had someone on set drawing a few sketches if necessary. you’re filming two people talking, how much do you want to storyboard that

Yeah, I read that he used a storyboard artist for Pulp Fiction. I think he may have had one for Kill Bill as well, outside of the anime stuff. I heard he even did some drawings or just diagrams to design the action sequences written on the back of his script or in a notebook.
