Death Proof.
It Both looked so fucking great. I think I’m going like Death Proof more but hell, it could be otherwise as well…
I’m intrested in seeing how Robert will approach the movie; hopefully it won’t be too funny, it should be so gory that we shouldn’t even remember laughing.
Haha - after nearly four months…I think I’ve finally made up my mind:
Death Proof
Well now that you have seen them whats your favorite?
Im a big QT fan(as you probably already know)but I liked Planet Terror more…
On my first viewing, I thought Planet Terror and the trailers stole the show.
On my 2nd viewing, Death Proof improved greatly and has now become the thing I remember most about Grindhouse. Strange, huh?
The movie didnt live up to my expectations until I saw Death Proof!!! Death Proof all the way…

Yeah, A LOT of people have said that. It seems like a Jackie Brown in that it gets better everytime you watch it.
Im really surprised of how many people like PT more… Death Proof looked much more like an exploitaion movie eventhough it had less scratches added… The ending is exactly like an exploitation movie ending… The girls are WICKED… Feet close up shots everywhere… great dialogue… No CGI… True stunts… Amazing cars… GREAT MOVIE!
After DP was over, PT was pretty much forgotten about. I’ll put it this way: I’m a Tarantino fan first, Rodriguez fan 2nd.
“Death Proof” gets better every time you see it. “Planet Terror” kind of loses its impact after you’ve seen all the shock points, which is all it’s comprised of… a series of shock scenes. “Death Proof” actually allows you to get lost in the characters and the story, not to mention there was an obvious level of craft that went into Tarantino’s film and was missed in Rodriguez’s.
i haven’t seen it yet but even i know that Death Proof is vastly superior to Planet Terror.

The real question is: How many Rodriguez films have you liked MORE than QTs.
My answer: ZERO.
Planet Terror will be alot of fun, no doubt, but QTs will have stuff thats just cooler simply because its a QT movie. [/quote]
…And after seeing it, thats exactly how I feel.
the Palme D’or nomination speaks for itself.
btw…IT’S GREAT TO BE BACK! WOO HOO!

Really cause i’ve only watched it once.
I like QT and RR about the same. Pulp is my #1 and Dusk til Dawn is a close #2 in this genre - I voted for death-proof because I like Kurt Russell’s acting.
Problem with this kind of thing is that there is a lot of bias. No offense but this is a tarantino message board. So it is no surprise that Death Proof is higher, while on a zombie message board I visit, people prefer Planet Terror, and my friend’s favorite part was the Rob Zombie trailer, and guess who his favorite director is? (Most reviews I read though prefer PT, which is a lot more fun than DP, but I think DP would be remembered more in the future.)
And that shows why this movie is so great. You get all that for the same price as one, I don’t want the films to be split because I feel people shouldn’t know or see one of the films only, but both together. In the future I don’t want to be talking to someone who only knows of one of them and hasn’t even heard of the other. But it’s too late. DP is going to Cannes on it’s own. Still I hope it wins.

I agree. I pay to see Grindhouse to see Death Proof, now.
I’ve only seen it once now, and therefore haven’t posted anything about the film since, since I wanna see it at least a second time to really see what I think about it. For me Planet Terror delivered everything it promised, and I’ll probably keep liking it like I did with the Mariachi-trilogy and From Dusk Till Dawn. Death Proof I also liked a lot but I’m just gonna have to see it again to really have something worth saying about it. I was so surprised by the ending of Death Proof and all(SPOILER: Not just the mayor change in Stuntman Mike but also everything else)END SPOILER that I’m just gonna have to see it again…
i have only seen it once and i think death proof was better and its funny because im sitting there watchin planet terror saying to myself there is no way tarantino is gona top this then i see death proof and he sure did top planet terror.
