how did you get that effect on the lights? - Photoshop? There is a filter that does that, but I don’t have one. Nice pic.

na for the actual flare of the lights my camera already does it, but i increased the brightness a bit in photoshop. Im not going to buy any filters for mine because once i get some im upgrading to some sort of SLR

I got the Canon 400D ( in the U.S. they call it an XTi) - I am pretty happy with it. The freaking battery lasts a month if you don’t use the flash. This lady that I work with just got the Sony SLR and it is pretty sweet - and cheaper. It has a built in image stabilizer - The Canon image stabilizer only comes in certain lenses and they are really expensive. I think that if you only want a few lenses the Sony is the better buy. If you want a wide variety of lenses you need to go with Canon or Nikkon.

yeah i reckon i will get a canon just need to save some money haha

www.bhphotovideo.com has used SLR bodies as well - and you can buy a warranty, so it won’t be that big of a risk. They are the only place I shop for photo gear. Very good store/fast shipping - the cheaper online stores strip the cameras of all of their accessories like the battery charger, battery, strap, etc… Once you buy a battery charger and a battery you paid the same price as B&H -

sweet cool site once i get the money it’s defintley gonna help cheers kilgore

heres some more night time shots im totally addicted to it atm

When I do a night-shot I use the minimum aperature - f22 on my 50mm lens, f32 on my med. format - this gives me the ability to use the longest shutter speed possible and it gives extrordinary depth of field. Movement is also visible when using this technique. Get a tripod and go somewhere with moving water - like a stream where water runs over some rocks, maybe even a waterfall if you can find one - use the minimum aperature and the long shutter speed - the water looks magical. I don’t get the chance to go out early in the morning and take shots like these anymore, and the ones I have are all on slide-film negatives - I’m not paying $10 per slide to scan them so that I can post them here - sorry. Low light is my absolute favorite.

This one looks great

thankyou heaps!

ThaDuke suggested that I post this painting I made here. Seeing that it’s mostly photography, I hope I’m not placing this in an innapropriate place.

wicked.

here are two pictures of paintings that were on a brick wall in this little hick town in East Texas:

and here is a picture of the Movie theater marquis that is in the painting:

i didn’t take this photo but i set up the lights, modelled (im the victim) and i edited it in photoshop.

PS only fake blood lol (very messy)

so there were 2 lights? one very strong one close - probably directly to the left of the shot - and a weak key light above the subject slightly to the left. Am I right? I haven’t used lights in a while so I am a little rusty.

Some more pics
