That’s right, hack-and-slash game Oneechanbara is getting a hack-and-slash film adaptation! The movie was announced today at a Tokyo press conference, and the flick’s website was launched. The film will star TV talent Eri Otoguro as Aya, bikini model Chise Nakamura as little sister Saki and idol Manami Hashimoto as Reiko.
I’m with dice here, the schoolgirl is nice, the cowgirl I don’t care that much for. She looks cool (especially terrific poster), but she’s not getting any cuteness points from me (which is not a negative thing, just neutral… I’m not giving Sonny Chiba cuteness points either and that hasn’t stopped me from loving his movies )

I have this theory that although these films are obviously made mainly for the Japanese market, they definitely rely on the hordes of white guys who fantasize about Japanese women. They totally know that white guys who wish they’d been born Japanese will be making up a significant percentage of the DVD sales. ;D
And don’t lie, I can totally tell that the schoolgirl was thinking of me in that screenshot.
3 + 2 = 1,5. Hmm. It’s got a school girl zombie, topples lady zombie, and a zombie eating intestines. It’s also got a katana wielding bikini girl as the main character, and a seifuku cutie as her opponent. Yet it barely works. Gô Ohara’s action design borrows from Versus and Death Trance (in which he also worked) but does everything with notably less success. The director (Yôhei Fukuda) shows little talent, and the actors are so wooden they don’t even do justice to the cardboard characters. CGI is plenty and very bad, but actually works to the benefit of the film. The core idea - swords, girls and zombies - is also fun enough to entertain even if the pic fails on other areas. Oh, and this is a video game adaptation.[/quote]
As promising as it seems, after checking out the trailer on the official site there, I can definitely see how you would be right HF. Looks incredibly commercial, and probably not anywhere near as fun as it could be.
Don’t you just love how Hung Fist feels the need to keep posting updates on films that he’s reviewed badly and everyone else has pretty much given up on? Now that’s dedication. ;D 8)
