[news] Tarantino splits with Bender [April 1st]

Maverick director Quentin Tarantino has split with his producing partner Lawrence Bender after a 10-year working relationship. The movie duo first alerted gossips of their separation at the Hollywood premiere of Sin City - for which Tarantino is credited as “special guest director” - when the Pulp Fiction icon turned up without Bender. And a representative for the director has now confirmed Tarantino and Bender have parted ways, following a decade of highly acclaimed and successful movie collaborations. The spokesperson tells website Pagesix.Com, “Kill Bill: Vol 2 was their last film together, but they remain friends.”

That sucks, at least they’re still friends.

wow, they was together for a DECADE! maybe QT is just in actuality an asswhole

that’s really a shame. Maybe it has something to do with the Miramax issue, just a thought

might this be an April Fool’s joke?

If said before (which it was) of after, the joke is on them tho… :-</E>

Anyone think it will change Q’s movies? think of the next…

No Miramax logo, No Bender credit…

well i dont care much about logos or credits. i wouldt care if QT changes to Focus Features or LGF, as long as he rocks our movie world

Or "Keeps on making movies that get yo’ dick hard…"

What is it that he’s does for his female fans?

no that’s true! I heard it, too!

Lol, thats a kind of random april fools.

I think there is a lot of chance that QT change to Focus Features… I have this feeling…

I wish :’(

Wont it just be the Weinsteins & Q producing now?

I don’t see what the big deal is. Who cares if QT isn’t with Bender anymore. The only contribution that Bender has ever made to the success of a QT film is contacting Keitel for RD. And the only reason he was able to get Keitel was because of QT’s script.

I’m really looking forward to QT’s films after Miramax and Bender. It’s like a breath of fresh air.

i think you are underestimating the work of a producer for a film

I agree with you, Seb. Specially in the USA, the producer has an important role to play for a movie !

QT made the movies but Bender was the driving force with A Band Apart who made those films possible. Dont forget that Miramax is just a distributor, not a production company

I know the responsibilities of a film producer. I’m not underestimating the role of a producer. I think you’re overestimating the role of Lawrence Bender. QT did more for Bender’s career than Bender did for QT. Bender was just a QT parasite. His success depended on QT’s talent. Any producer can do his job.

Seriously, has Bender produced anything worth mentioning besides QT’s films. Good Will Hunting was pretty good but that was despite Bender who wanted a different cast, director, and script changes.
