I’d love to shoot old style again. We started shooting on GRIND HOUSE with just a second unit, and i loved how that felt. we didn’t even have a sound guy, i just had the mic plugged into the HD camera and monitored the sound with my ipod headphones. it was very cool.
we moved so fast and got so much done it was unbelievable

We officially start end of January, but i sometimes get ahead of myself and start shooting stuff anyway. i had some actors come down and we shot 3 days of tests that will end up being in the movie. i was testing cameras, and thought we might as well be productive and shoot something useable. it’s going to be a really fun movie.
Excellent! It must be awesome to be in the position where you can just make movies so fast like Robert does. He can do everything right in his backyard with his studio etc. Looking forward to this film. I cant wait to get the Grind House book too with all the pics and writing by QT and RR!
To promote this new release [the sin city SE dvd], Miller, and co-directors Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino took the stage at the Arclight Theatre in Hollywood to show a special screening of the DVD features and to discuss the film and their future projects. iF MAGAZINE was there for the scoop.
Question: Are you filming GRIND HOUSE in digital the same as you did with SIN CITY?
Tarantino: I can’t really talk about that right now, because right now it’s nothing. [Laughs] No, but because I am doing it with Robert we are doing everything at Troublemaker [Studios in Austin, Texas]. Right now were going to be shooting it in digital too.
Rodriguez: One of the things he [Tarantino] had said after he finished shooting SIN CITY was “Mission Accomplished now I know why you brought me down here to try this. I’d love to shoot digital again, but I’m only going to do it here. I’m not going to do it somewhere else. So that’s how we started GRIND HOUSE, we just got right into it.
“As a character called Redhead Babe and I think with her being from Texas, she is probably connected to Robert’s segment or if you are going on the character name, she could be in one of the trailers… possibly the sexploitation trailer”
The actress is said to have been a character double in Sin City and she would most likely be in Planet Terror, or just in the early test footage Rodriguez shot already. The source is Imdb.com (so not that reliable)
“Hey Folks - Harry here… Rodriguez contacted me to say that VARIETY got the story wrong. The film will continue to be called GRINDHOUSE… and his part isn’t… PLANET TERROR, but PROJECT TERROR. Sigh… damn mainstream press… just a bunch of rumors they pull off the fucking internet. Heh. What an incestuous world eh?”

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, IESB received a scoop from a reader who claims they met Michael Keaton at Disneyland in California and discovered some interesting news. If you couldn’t read the title above, Michael Keaton told this scooper that he will have a role in WeinsteinCo.'s Grindhouse, which will be directed by both Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez. He tells the scooper that he has a role specifically in Rodriquez’s 60-minute zombie film entitled “Project Terror”. Tarantino’s section, “Death Proof,” will be a slasher segment. ‘Grindhouse’ is aiming for a September 22nd release.
neither of those are reliable resources and I for myself will call it grind house unti i hear QT or Rodriguez say it’s called grind. i suppose in interviews they just said grind as in the nickname of their project, coz it’s shortern and then reporters thought thats the new title
Roth Joins ‘Grindhouse’, Pics Now 75-Minutes Long!
“In addition to a “Sin City” sequel for next year, Rodriguez is working on “Grindhouse,” for which he and Quentin Tarantino will each helm a 75-minute horror tale. Pic is now nearing production in Rodriguez’s hometown of Austin, Texas.
Each tale will be separated by faux ads and trailers that will feature big-name talent and direction by other helmers, like Eli Roth. And the trailers may even include kernels of ideas for future “Grind” films. “It will be a totally new experience, and a whole step above,” Bob Weinstein says. Subsequent installments could be blaxploitation pics or kung fu movies.
Rodriguez’s part, “Project Terror,” will be a zombie pic, while Tarantino’s section, “Death Proof,” will a slasher seg.”
