That’s why when I write a script, I leave it the bare minimum: character movements/descripts, brief scenery descriptions and dialogue.

So you don’t wanna direct your own shit?
I tried writing like that once.

CK, Ordell, you 2 were the 2 that saw my messed up sig on here, but I am glad to report that is wasn’t me, I searched about it and apparently Imageshack got hacked and that was a letter from them.
I am now running my sig through someone else now.

When I first saw it there I thougt you were posting it up there for us to read and it boggled my fucking mind. “I thought he was pretty cool but I think he’s lost his mind.”

I wouldn’t want to. But I’m sort of the despondent type who doesn’t really know how to deal with people on a personal level. I’ve recently learned the acronym for this “disease” is DEX, oddly enough (I think anyway). Somebody way smarter than me brought this up and I had a hard time following it’s relevance.
But on the same hand I don’t think a movie should be made if the writer and director aren’t on the same page. I think it should be a collaborative effort between the two with the creator’s vision at the forefront.
Things like the robots who embody the worst of black American stereo types in Transformers 2, despite the fact that the writers never intended them to be portrayed that way should never happen.
A film would have to be good by accident if at the very least the writer and director aren’t making the same movie. I don’t Transformer’s problem is it’s relationship between wirter and director though ;D

Then turn to books. The power of motion pictures comes from the combination of visuals and audio to create all kinds of emotions. Can’t do that shit with books. A good story is nothing cinematic, it’s just a good story.

Yeah, I like to think I stay true to that style as well but lately (because what I’m writing these days is more meant to be read than seen) I’ve been sort of breaking the rules in a sense. I very rarely describe the location in any sort of detail simply because most of the time it’s not that important to the story I’m trying to tell. I add subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) camera direction, I bluntly describe a characters emotions a little more than I should, and I’ve kinda strayed away from conforming to the typical act structure/character arch. Most of those things are considered a “no-no when trying to break into the business”.
If you’re interested in having your work viewed and critiqued I highly recommend checking out the Virtual Series world. We mostly deal in TV shows but I’m co-president of a network and I’m totally looking to acquire more movies. If you’re afraid of somebody stealing your work you can always register it with the copyright office or the WGA first but just publishing it somewhere gives you documented proof that you did it first and you’ll have plenty of witnesses who can vouch for that.

Yeah, that sounds cool. Do you want to hire me on ? My manager copyrights my stuff so I’m never really worried about all that. He’ll handled the legal stuff and I’ll just do what I do best.
Just saw this. And you know what? It wasn’t half bad! In fact I liked it. Maybe it’s because I never saw the first one, but the spfx were incredible and the film had some nice humor in it. And Megan Fox looked so incredible - no really she does!. The purpose of this film is to entertain and by god it entertained me from start to finish. Though I must admit the film is pretty long. 2 hours and 30 minutes long. But still - a fun film.

Yeah, just sign up here http://teneod.proboards.com/index.cgi? and pitch your idea in the notepad forum. Check out some of the other pitches for examples. They’re mostly TV show pitches but just make sure you make it clear that you’re pitching a movie. The other two guys that run the network will have to decide as well but we’re pretty open to anything as long as you make it clear you know what you’re doing in the pitch.

I’ve heard so much negative crap about the movie I have a feeling that when I finally do see it my expectations will be so low that I actually enjoy it.

Oh, I think you will. I mean it’s not great, but it’s fun. Critics tend to get into every detail including plot and performances. I mean we all know this film isin’t award material. It entertains, that’s the purpose of a blockbuster like this. And call me crazy, but when I saw Megan Fox, I saw a trace of greatness in her, I think in time as she acts in more films, she’ll become a pretty goood actress. It’s all in her expressions. I mean Joan Crawford was pretty terrible when she barely started, but as she made more films and studied veteran actors on the set - she got way better until she finally broke through in “Our Dancing Daughters”.

lol I’m trying to find a post where you don’t mention Joan Crawford or Bette Davis or Gretta Garbo I don’t know if she’ll ever be a very good actress. She seems to aware of what people think of her, and that’s acting poison.
Just wait until she gets a decent role. A real character to play.
You know back in the day the critics and audiences thought the same of Lauren Bacall, in fact her career was in great danger a little before The Big Sleep came out. Howard Hawks reshot the film with her and Bogie, and the result was a sheer success. Sometimes actors need good directors to turn them to the right direction. michael Bay of course is not one of them. Megan Fox has appeal, she can be great when and if she learns the ropes - so to speak.

What did you think of the Jennifers Body trailer? Cody’s script will give her a chance to flex some sort of muscle, whether it be comedic or otherwise. But down the line, I just don’t see her as the type of actress who can recognize good projects from bad ones. Even some of the best can’t do that and for someone with not a lot of credibility, it can be damaging.

I loved the trailer. And yeah, she’ll finally have a significant speaking part. That’s a start. I’ve read most of the script, she’s basically playing the femme fatale in this quirky.gross out horror picture. She’s like the Species girl to be a little more accurate on what she will be doing, only here she’s funny and sexier. I’ll be there opening night. Diablo Cody and Megan Fox, now that’s what I call a movie!
