The Robocop remake by Darren Aronofsky will wipe the floor with this.
Why you’d support a remake above an original film I do not understand.
Especially since the remake is unncecessary and Verhoeven’s RoboCop is easily one of the greatest film of the 80s. There’s more social commentary in a film like that than in shit preachfests like Crash.
I agree. I think paul verhoeven is one of the most misunderstood and talented directors out there. Starship Troopers is a misunderstood masterpiece and its also takeshi miike’s favourite film. I also love how big he puts his directors credit at the end of robocop - genius!
This new Herzog film looks great even if the title is one of the worst crimes against cinematic humanity in recent memory.

On the subject of Chloe Sevigny, have you seen The Brown Bunny? If so, what did you think about it?
It’s already been a good while since I saw it. At first I didn’t know what to think and then I was leaning towards liking it, but wasn’t really sure. Now, I genuinely like it. It has a strange aura about it. Gallo doesn’t talk much and when he or any of the other characters do, it’s like they are having separate conversations, not really engaging each other. So beautifully shot though.

I prefer Buffalo '66, I was so impressed by the cinematography and still am. Vincent Gallo is such a pretencious director but he sure is very talented. I only saw The Brown Bunny some years ago, and indeed like you I had mixed feelings about it even if I kept a good souvenir of the movie. I should watch it again. But I loved Gallo and Sevigny in it.
Great, I didn’t know you were going to the TIFF. I wish I could. Cannes was great though when I went there. Is that hard to get access, badge and all for Toronto (it sure is for Cannes, you can’t go there just for a regular visite).
I was first checking out this topic cause I merged an old topic about the movie with it. So everybody knows it now and can read the previous posts that were about the movie.
Btw I just saw the trailer yesterday and it doesn’t seem that good. Even if I love Chloé Sevigny, she seems too discret in the trailer (that was the main reason for me to watch it).
I worked for the TIFF Group which is the year round organization that runs all cinema/film related events in Toronto from January to December including TIFF. So I got ten vouchers that allow me to get ten tickets for ten films. But it’s easy to get tickets as Cannes is a private festival meant mainly for industry people and TIFF is a public festival which means any Joe can get in as much as industry people.
Right, cause in Cannes, you can’t enter if you haven’t a badge and there are different sorts of badges, so even if you have one, you can see everything you want, or there’s a rank of priority and you might be the last one to enter the theater if there’s still place left. And you can also enter if you get a ticket, which you cannot pay for, it’s only on invitations. And badges, 90% of badges are for people from the industry (that’s how I got one) or journalists.

I’m not she will. Cause she was with him at the time and he’s now doing his new movie with his new girlfriend (or wife, I don’t remember if they’re married or not).

Don’t you like Buffalo '66 ?
I know they’re not together anymore but it’d still be nice.
It’s funny you’d use The Playlist. I write for them
I’m going to Trash Humpers at TIFF. Harmony will be there to introduce it so I’m looking forward to that big time. I’ll probably be writing a review of it for The Playlist afterwards. I’ll probably be covering a few others for them as well.
I think it looks great though and I’ve enjoyed all of his films so far.

Really ? I so love this site. You really sound more and more interesting everytime I ask you something, ahaha. Next time you write for them, tel me which article is yours, so that I know.

I write under the name Frank Rutledge. The articles should say Posted By Frank Rutledge or it’ll be signed with - Frank Rutledge.
My next one coming up is in our most anticipated of TIFF. I did the blurb on Trash Humpers. The last one I did was about Fathom suing James Cameron and Fox over Avatar’s similarities to Delgo.
Everyone who writes for it is pretty cool. I enjoy doing it so much.
I’ll check out your post. And I did read the similaries between Avatar and Delgo, I even called my bro to tell him about since he used to be intrigued by Avatar (before we saw the pics and the trailers, cause we’re both not too much into it anymore).
I can’t wait to read your next article about TIFF. I should tell you once my memory topic for this year cause I’ve been doing a lot of researches about festival selections, especially Sundance and Toronto to see the new indie trends coming out there.
