Just picked up Fritz Lang’s metropolis, never seen it before going to watch it now.

Thank you very much Laydback for the video!

Metropolis is a movie I wanna see. I love Fritz Lang, it’s available for a cheap price at cdon.com (I think)… I should buy it before it’s to late.

It’s a sound film but The Testament of Dr. Mabuse is my favorite Lang film.

Talk about a movie having everything:

Horror

Romance

Adventure

Sci-Fi

Humor

Suspense

Politics

Mystery

And it’s astounding how Lang was able to tie all that together and make a GREAT movie out of it.

If you have any more cool silent clips feel free to post them!

You sure must know about Méliès, one of the first real director in France (the Lumière Bros weren’t arist actually, they even said that they use the cinema to study body movements as scientists, ahah, plus make money with this). We’ve been sudying at the uni all his shorts (at least the ones left) and the first SFX he did.

And I just learnt that I live in Paris actually next to where he used to live. Sounds chic. 8)
