Wasnt Be Cool about the music biz? I didnt see it. I heard it stunk.
Sweet Sweetbacks Baadasss Song is one of the first independent black films of the 1970s. It really kicked off what became Blaxploitation. I consider Sweetback to be more of an arthouse film than typical Blaxploitation though. If you watch Sweetback then a film like The Mack or Dolemite, theres a BIG difference in style and vision. Definitely check out Badasssss, the film about the making of Sweetback! Its excellent!
I love this topic, everyones given some great examples of movies about movies.
One movie about movies Ive loved since I was a kid that I just remembered is F/X. Bryan Brown plays a special FX genius who gets hired to create and perform a fake hit on a mobster. Great 80s film!

It’s funny, this movie came up at work today somehow. The manager likes the movie and she then proceeded to ask me if I liked it and looking dead cold into her eyes, this is what I told her:
