Michael jai white scene
I’m sure he will, but he won’t be putting the scenes INTO the movie.  He doesn’t believe in that.
That’s not neccesarily true. He said that about Pulp, but he was forced to edit so much out of Kill Bill that he may change his mind.

This is from the two other reviews from Ain’t it cool News.

" While having a much needed cigarette after the film, my buddy ended up smoking next to Harvey Weinstein, who was also choking one down. My buddy, never at a loss for words, congratulated him and told Harvey that he had a great film on his hands. Harvey took a few steps over and began conversing with my friend about the film, what was missing (most notably the Michael Jai White flashback sequence which Harvey said they ran out of time for but would certainly be on the DVD) and the release strategy. Harvey noted when asked about a 2 disc set combining the films that both films would have their own DVD releases, but that the film would be cut together as one single film, an entity all it’s own (apparently not simply slapped together) and would not only be released as one set, but it would have a theatrical release. "

Didn’t Warren Beatty back out not only because he didn’t know jack shit about martial arts (and wasn’t willing to learn), but that he felt the character of Bill didn’t have much to him?

This is why it is confusing to see a scene which enriches the character of Bill be cut out. But I think QT might have something to replace it. From the reviews I’ve read, we actually feel sorry for Bill at the end, so maybe QT did something right.

Right! First go see the movie, then judge about it, not vice versa.

an other double topic:

So i saw those awesome pics of bill in the white shirt when  he is fighting that black guy in the brown get up. It looks awesome and i have been informed it is a choped scene from the original picture, and that it will availible to view on the uncut japanese version of the dvd. But what i really want to know is, who is that guy’s character, why are they fighting, and where is it on the script? Someone help me if u have any clues to what the go is here?

My answer was

Well Qt shooted the scene with Michael Jay White (Spawn) and it was planned, to use them as an indroduction for Bill. To show his fighting abilities. But after the shooting he decided not to use them in the movie (not even in the jap version). He thought that the would be not good for the flow of the movie. But the will be def. on the KB V 1 + 2 DVD. There are plenty of interviews in which he talked about him. Some of them are mentioned in some other topics here.

Example:

Did anything get cut that you really hated to lose from either Volume 1 or Volume 2? Is there anything we can look forward to seeing on the DVD?

QT: Well, David has this really cool little fight scene with Mike Jai White who’s a terrific actor. I didn’t hate to lose it because it just wasn’t right - I didn’t hate to lose it because I didn’t need it in the movie, the movie was long enough as it was and you didn’t really need it. But it’s perfect to put in the special section of a DVD, a kind of cool, stand-alone scene. But it interrupted the movie. That was the thing about doing two movies, I didn’t really have anything left when it was all over. It pretty much all got used.

RopeofSilicon: Tell me about the scenes that were deleted where you fought Michael Jai White and his henchmen, and if they were even shot.

David: Yeah it was shot. There was a scene in the picture with Michael Jai White and a bunch of henchmen that was supposed to happen in a poker game, and then Quentin wrote another scene that he thought superceded that and he didn’t think that he could have both scenes. So he basically cut it out of the picture before we shot it, but he loved the fight that he’d been working on for a couple of months and he really wanted Michael Jai White in the picture. So he invited him to Beijing just to do the fight and Michael said yes he would, so he wrote a new scene, but the thing is, he didn’t want to let go of this moment, but it didn’t really belong in the picture, at least that’s what Quentin thought, but it’ll be in the DVD.

RopeofSilicon: Where would it have gone in the storyline?

David: Well, that is the problem; nobody could quite figure that out. I could see one place where he could put it in but it would maybe slow the flow, and in its original concept it didn’t belong in there, wasn’t there. The thing they were trying to show had already been replaced by another scene he had written, so it didn’t really make sense, to Quentin at least, to keep it in, and also I think he was struggling with time.

That scene in the chapel is the scene that is not in the original script, that’s the scene that replaced the poker scene. We wanted to have this introduction of Bill. It’s the introduction, that’s what those scenes were made for, and you can’t introduce him twice. I think that’s why Michael’s scene went out.

Because when he cut the picture in two pieces, the part at which he decided to cut it had to be, according to him, before you meet Bill, and you meet Bill in the very first scene in the second picture, it’s actually pretty early in the script. So in the first movie he had a lot of space, there’s some moments that are really spread out, he takes his time with it. The second movie, all of a sudden he’s got all this material, and it’s maybe two-thirds of the 200-page script that he’s somehow gotta get into one movie, getting it down to two hours and nine minutes was really a problem and there’s a few things that were cut out, and they’re all juicy, everything we shot was pretty juicy, and I think most of it will get back into the DVD. That will be the life of the picture anyway. I mean people are gonna be watching it on DVD forever and we don’t expect to see a Quentin Tarantino movie on network television.

can’t wait for the dvd extras

I wrote a description of that scene

Check it out:

THE DELETED SCENE

This is a great scene. I can see how it doesn’t fit into the film. QT made a good choice taking it out. But it’s really really cool.

It begins with Beatrix and Bill enjoying a walk together. They are stopped short by White with a sword and four other guys wielding scimitars. White challenges Bill, seeking vengeance for his dead master Damoe. Bill tells Beatrix to step back while he handles this. Bill lifts his Hanzo sword as one of White’s subordinates runs toward him in attack. Bill, with a hidden blade beside his sword, throws the blade into the attacker’s head as he approaches. He falls dead. White then orders the three remaining subordinates to attack Bill. Bill effortlessly slits all their throats with his Hanzo sword. He does this with less effort than Beatrix with the first few Crazy 88’s.

Then comes the fight between White and Bill. They have a short sword duel which ends with White slicing off a piece of Bills clothing. Bill gets a look on his face like, “Oh no you didn’t.” White sticks his sword in a wooden column and challenges Bill to fight without swords. Bill agrees and they have a no-weapons fight where Bill fights like Pai Mei. White, realizing that he’s no match for Bill takes his sword back. Bill takes his sword out also and leaves it sheathed. White reluctantly agrees to keep his sheathed also. They proceed with a sheathed sword fight until Bill manages to get the sheathed blade to White’s neck. Just before it hits his neck, the sword unsheathes a little, revealing part of the blade which cuts White’s neck a little. If you’ve read the script, White dies in this scene much like Elle was originally going to die. The cut in his neck squirts out blood like a balloon releasing air. The scene ends with a shot of Beatrix looking in awe at Bill.

This is a great scene. The dialogue is hilarious. It doesn’t sound real it sounds dubbed.

awesome!Only 15 more days!! ;D

@ Filmguy:

Thanx so much for the great discription of the scene.

I think it underlines the fact that QT is a great, great director. The scene was well made and he only put them out for the flow of the movie…

Man I´m sooo waiting for the DVD coming out in Germany.

"Bill is going to end up looking like such a pussy because we won’t even get to see him fight and win one battle if this is true"

You don’t need an action sequence to show that Bill is a badass. That’s the brillance of David Carradine’s performance. After seeing the films together I thought my god this guy really would’ve shot Beatrix in the cheek with a dart and seeing Beatrix’s reaction after he tells her you know this guy is a cold blooded killer.

Okay, in this topic we discussed the cutted White scene before any of us has seen it.

But now the scene is in the Feature of the DVD KB 2 and the first guys of this board had the chance to see it.

So I changed the title of this topic.

SO PLEASE, IF YOU WANNA DISCUSS THE SCENE WITH WHITE - JUST USE THIS TOPIC ONLY.

NO DOUBLE TOPICS AND STUFF LIKE THIS. You know, one theme - one topic ;D ;D ;D.

When I find some fine comments, I will copy them to this topic.

I found this interessting post from the Hellhound about the scene:

michael jai white scene was shit-ty acting wise i mean

fighting was good, good thing it was cut tho

Would be great, if he can post some more stuff.

And this is a part from a post about the DVD from the filmguy, which is very detailed.

oh ok

well when the scene started we knew that it was before Bea got dropped off at pei mei’s place, so theyre in china, but Jai white is leading them and he’s sounding like a british actor who dubs kung fu movies, the fighting was good but white’s accent and acting really threw me off

David didnt look too into it but he pulled off all the fighting moves okay

it was a good scene to look back on but it would of been too hokey if it was in the actual movie.

gotta check the “making of” later

I managed to get my hands on the dvd too!   Perhaps the biggest compliment I could give the Jai White Scene is that, together with the Pai Mei sequence, it was the scene which had the most “Shaw Bros.” feel to it from all of Kill Bill. The set, the costumes and the corny as hell dialogue were 100% Shaw Bros. influenced. But I agree with Hellhound, it wouldn’t have fit in the movie; even considering the fact that it is just 3 1/2 minutes long and would have to be incorporated into one of the chapters, making the whole chapter feel somehow disjointed.

i made my sister wait outside blockbuster and rent it for me this morning. i thought this scene was very cool, exactly how filmguy described it. what i am wondering though is why are there some pictures of white fighting without his shirt on? the whole fight scene he is wearing that outfit you see him in in the volume 1 trailer… does anyone know if the shirtless part was edited out for any specific reason?

its one of the best deleted scenes ever!

I love when Jai White goes “hahahaha…you bastard”

aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

You lucky guys!

Can you please, please tell me more about the scene? Oh I wish, I would life in the States these days…

Was it a good fight?

What do you think about Carradines abbilities as a Kung Fu fighter in it?
