well i was watchin the trailer on the site and this movie is lookin pretty rich with the atmosphere from the TV show. Surprisingly Collin looks pretty good as the DON JOHNSON’s roll CROCKETTE. And Jamie Foxx is lookin cool as TUBBS. I think its koo how they have the producer of the TV SHOW directing the movie remake.

No Michael Mann is directing this. And I dont know about cop movies anymore, I get my fill with law&order. I mean there is not much you cant do on tv that you can do on a movie. And I didnt find the trailer interesting, maybe the next one.

he produced the series too, the trailer looks promising, even though i spot a little “Bad Boys” feel to it, hopefully im wrong, Mann is one of the greats

wut part of this site is the trailer? i cant find it
log in with your age and stuff and then you should see a link somewhere. or look under videos.
update: just looked at the site and it seems like the trailer is gone, now that there’s a website for the film
Why does everyone keep comparing it to Bad Boys?
I didn’t see any attempts at humor in the trailer… or duel wielding pistol action…

Miami Vice was a hugely influential show during the eighties and Mann’s influence on Hollywood through that show was strongly felt pretty much right up until would be directors started jumping on the Tarantino bandwagon following Pulp Fiction. If there are any similarities between Bad Boys and the Miami Vice movie, its because Michael Bay ripped off the show for his crappy movies, not because Mann decided to rip off a douche like Bay.
To get the image of Bad Boys out of your head, just think of this as Heat only instead, its about vice cops in Miami.

that would satisfy me yes
i’m glad it’s in Miami, because Mann is really good at showing the beauty of a city, LA looked better than ever in Heat and Collateral, let’s see him try to top the way De Palma made Miami look in Scarface, i hope it’s constantly going to have the look when Tony is making the call at that phonebooth infront of this beautiful lake “fuck ‘dat, im takin’ it to Lopez myself”
I think Mann’s Miami is going to look even better than DePalma’s Miami, myself. Not that I think Michael Mann is a vastly superior director than DePalma (well, I do like Mann more, but only a little bit more), but because of the technology at his disposal now. Better cameras, better lenses, etc. and Mann knows how to hire the kind of people that will make the best use of them.
Michael Mann knows how to strip the smog and dirt and slime off of a city and make it look like a glittering jewel in one shot. Yet somehow, he manages to infuse his characters and stories and action with a gritty realism despite the polish of his cinematography. The man is an amazing director.
Love the series hope this doesnt suck :-</E>
I read somewhere that some of the cast said Collin is overweight or something. Probably bullshit
Michael Mann did direct the pilot for the show and it is my favourite TV show ever. I really think it will rock.
The trailer looks like an updated version of the show (and a bit of michael mann’s recent “collateral” style with the digital). It seems to have the style and everything.
And one thing about Michael Bay. I don’t think he is an excellent director and i don’t respect him overtly. But why bag Bay out all the time, when technically he is a successful director. THere are much worse directors. Like directors that are neither critically nor box office successful. At least Bay’s films make a shitload at the box office. So, he knows how to please crowds. That is his strong spot. He doesnt deserve this much shit. I DON’T think he is a great director personally, but a lot of people obviously watch his films. So he is successful.
So he knows how to please a crowd…Annabelle Chong knew how to please a crowd!
Fuck bay. This looks half way decent except I had enough of Fox in Collateral which needed more. I think this is going to be where Collateral should of been. It’l be a little more intense more acton. Collin Farell, fuck I don’t know. Definately the DVD market will make it all its money. I know my movies.
I’m looking forward to Miami Vice. Yeah, the actors are different, but that’s a good thing. Don Johnson was good, but do you remember how bad that guy was who played Tubbs? I for one think Collin Farell looks sleazy as hell, which is just perfect for Crockett. Plus, this is Michael Mann we’re talking about. Yeah, Collateral wasn’t great, but Miami Vice was and is the best TV show of its kind. It’s STILL way ahead of any other show in terms of story, characters, direction, and style. It’s like a Charles Willeford Miami novel come to life, and you have to hand it to Mann for letting the show breath, for letting all the characters have full lives. I digress; the point is that Miami Vice was great in the hands of Michael Mann once, and I hope it is again.
Don Johnson did a good job because he was not out of character - he really is a washed up druggie in real life…same thing goes for “The Dude” - a loser alcoholic was not a hard role to play or a far stretch from reality for Jeff Bridges. Other acting gigs that were probably pretty easy would include: Sean Penn as a retard, Sean Penn as a retard, and Sean Penn as a retard.
Here endeth the first lesson.
I love Mann and Miami Vice is my favourite tv show ever, but Collateral rocked so hard and you guys are really underrating it. I think Vice will be great but it probably will not best Collateral. Collateral was an awesome film.
The thing about Miami Vice is, though, Mann would know Miami Vice like the back of his hand. How convenient that the director of the original pilot went on to become one of the greatest auteurs in Hollywood…
