5.Woke Up This Morning
I’ve never really been able to listen to Leonard Cohen since I saw NBK. The image and the audio are just too closly interlinked, and not in the good way like in QT’s movies.
hm, I thought this was gonna be a thread for one of my favourite musicians of all time…
It is a thread about that. I was just fucking with your idea, Kenneth.
Well then let me say that I am a huge fan of this man since I was 7 years old, and I’ve seen him in concert, and will probably do so again this summer.
Everyone (if they don’t know L.C.) needs to buy the Essential Leonard Cohen CD if they know what’s good for them.
It’s strange how he is suddenly so popular, more popular then ever.
It’s because of his Live in London DVD, I believe.
Who is Leonard Cohen? I would probably know if I looked him up, but I’m so shit-faced. I’d rather someone tell me… And then when I come back tomorrow, I’ll be all like, “OHHHHH! Riiighhht! Awesome!”

But that only came out recently, he was on the rise long before that. Hall of fame introduction, touring the world again, and everything.
My knowledge of Leonard Cohen’s discography is so far limited. But the older stripped down stuff appeals to me a lot more than the newer stuff. His first recording, Songs of Leonard Cohen, is a great album and probably a good starting point for a new listener.
I don’t even know who he is. :-</E>
I’d say Death of a Ladies Man is his best though, even if you like his stripped down stuff. Death of a Ladies Man is still perfection.

That’s strange, because DOALM is by surely his least popular album, except for maybe his most recent one “Dear Heather”.
But it contains my fav. Cohen song ever “Memories”. It’s not a typical Cohen song AT ALL, but it’s just my fav. of his.
Sometimes popularity doesn’t mean quality.
Sure, I just never heard or read someone saying that this is his fav. album. It’s like saying “Spaghetti Incident” is your favourite Guns N’ Roses album.
How do you feel about I’m Your Man?
Who in the fuck is Leonard Cohen?

The album? I fuckin love it, that’s how I feel about it. It would take me a while to decide if his 70’s or 80’s/90’s stuff is better. But the 70’s would probably win for nostalgia reasons (heard those songs very often when I was young)
Just got back from the awesome concert Cohen gave in Wiesen, Austria!
What a show!
