Fox News writes, "Tarantino told me that we will not be seeing “Kill Bill: Vol. 2” until April instead of the planned February release. “To make that date I would have had to come back from promoting [‘Vol. 1’] and go right back into editing,” he said. “I had to take a break.”
In that time, a DVD for “Vol. 1” will be released with a few extras, namely songs that were cut from the first chapter. “Eventually we’re going to have one big DVD with both movies,” he said. Other than the songs, though, “Vol. 1” will be a straight-ahead transfer to DVD.
More importantly, Tarantino is pondering more chapters in the series. “I’ve thought of prequels and sequels,” he said. “I had this great idea where we wait five years and come back not with the Bride as the main character, but Vernita’s (Vivica A. Fox) daughter as the main character. It would be fifteen years in the future, and the Bride (Uma Thurman) would be in a wheelchair.”

Maybe I’m just nitpicking. Anyway, I’m a consumer whore (and how!) and well aware of it, so I admit I’ll take whatever they spoonfeed me. I just really enjoy the movie that much, and, probably have terrible spending habits. 12 different editions of Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2? So be it, thats what’ll sit in my DVD collection. Needless to say, I’ll certainly be picking up Vol 1 on the “barebones” DVD release in April. Chances are, hopefully, there will only be 3 different DVD’s: Vol 1 by itself, Vol 2 by itself, and a special edition boxset of the two. I have no problems buying all three.
I guess the part that says “straightforward transfer” pretty much means that the Kill Bill vol. 1 dvd will be without the color HOBL scene and the extra minutes. I think the only thing we’re gonna get here is the cut-and-dried theatrical version.
We’re gonna hafta wait for the two-fer edition to see the Japanese version, that is if we get to see it at all

I think we get an identical release for both regions. That news there about the R2 is from January, whereas the other news is from yesterday. They just haven’t updated the info.
Why should those be any different?

And yeah, the release dates may differ up to a week depending on the country because of shipment times. Here in Finland it’s gonna be out April 16th…
Don’t get your hopes too high on special features. It will probably be just those Tarantino trailers in the menu screenshot (which I already own and could give two shits about) and some cast biographies. And if we’re REALLY lucky, we’ll also get some short behind the scenes stuff we’ve already seen and downloaded online a billion times before. Any sane individual would wait till the super duper box-set’ ll come out, but it’s too hard to stay away from Vol. 1 another nine months or so.
I hate capitalism. >:(
When does the uncut Japanese verison Kill Bill DVD come out? I can’t believe they cut that much stuff out of the U.S version.

I looked on DVDEmpire and they said the dvd has a feature-length “Trivia Track.” Now I know these are two different sources, but I kinda believe this one more, because it sounds kinda fishy that we would get a legit commentary from QT. I think we’re just getting the trivia track. Damn.
yeah i agree. Dvdempire is a more reliable source. The “commentary thing” seems too big for a bare bone version anyways. (Hopefully Im wrong though)
