whered you get it-did u order from the internet?
Yesterday I saw “Shaolin Temple”, In that movie the same jumping sound is used as with The Bride against GoGo
Name reference "Sophie"
In the Reservoir Dogs script Joe is telling a joke;
JOE:
…So they’re talkin about how
they get their wives off, and the
French guys says:
(in a bad French
accent)
“All I gotta do is take my pinky
and tickle my Fifi’s little oo la
la and she rises a foot off the
bed.”
(in a good Brooklyn
accent)
“That’s nothin. When I take the
tip of my tongue and wiggle it
against my Mary Louise’s little
fun pimple, she rises two feet off
da bed.” Then our friend from
Poland says:
(in dumb voice)
"You guys ain’t no cocksmen. When
I get through fuckin my Sophie, I
wipe my dick on the curtains and
you know what? She hits the
roof!"
Joe laughs like a crazy man.
JOE
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
We hear a lot of laughing OFF SCREEN.
JOE
Ain’t that a masterpiece? Stupid
fuckin Polack, wipes his dick on
the drapes.
Return of the five deadly venoms is much different than the original. it has a completely different story. It’s was actually called “crippled avengers” when it used to be on kung fu theather in the 80s. It happens to be in my top 5 kung fu flicks along with 5 deadly, chinese super ninjas(#1 hands down. seen this movie so many times i can actually recreate 98% of the sound effects before they happen.), master killer and kid with the golden arms.
Kill Bill is the best movie ever, not enough bastards are seeing it though. It kinda reminds me of the anime classic, “Ninja Scroll”, especially the end fight scene with O-ren. How they run behind the screen and face each other. Jubei fights some blind guy like that in ninja scroll.QT should have made more homages to this movie by tying a string to the bride’s sword, or after she chopped off sophie’s arm, she should have drank the blood from it. Just some suggestions.
Please no more suggestions. That might be the stupidest thing i have ever seen.
Here’s another movie that should be added to the list.
It’s another Meiko Kaji (of LADY SNOWBLOOD fame) film.
It’s called: Female Convict Scorpion: Jailhouse 41 (1972)
It’s Japanese title is: Joshuu sasori: Dai-41 zakkyo-bô
In it she plays another revenging female role.  This time she’s in prison for a crime we do not know.
She is raped by guards while in prison.  But she never says a word.  I think she says one word in the whole film.
But she stares at the other characters with scarily intense eyes.
The evil warden is blinded in one eye, and wears dark sunglasses to hide his deformity.  He may sometimes even wear an eyepatch, but I can’t remember for sure.
The theme song for the film is called “Urami-Bushi” and is sung by Meiko Kaji.  It plays during th end credits of KILL BILL.
Cool. Thanks for the info on that one, Jeff!
Adds another to my must-see list
Stanley kubrick’s the shining. shelley duval in the shining wears a similar jacket with stitches painted by a marker on it at one point (when she goes to the basement) as the nurse in kill bill. or am i wrong?

i actually meant the scene where duvall talks through the intercom. but after rewatching it i think im wrong, unless its a very subtle reference…
Another small reference to Pulp Fiction: the same font is used in the opening credits.
I dont know if this has been mentioned yet, but the last track of the soundtrack w/ that guy making that weird noise is from a scene in 5 Deadly Venoms when The Toad is given sedatives/poison.
I recently saw Duel to the Death and noticed a few simularities:
-Ninja gets vertically sliced in half like what the Bride did to a 88 member.
-There’s a scene near the beginning of the movie where one of the main characters (Hashimoto) accidently kills his master to where the master tells him to recite his ancient code. The code is very simular to Hanzo’s code in KB right after the Bride kills Vernita Green.
-The character of Hashimoto walks alone in a desert, pretty much the same camera angle as the Bride is in the teaser to Vol. 2.
-The character Hashimoto tells his rival “We have unfinished business” before the duel near the ending just like what the Bride says to Vernita Green and Oren in KB.
-Once in a while Hashimoto pulls out his sword which is very reminiscent to when the Bride pulls out a sword in fron of Hattori Hanzo before he admits he likes Baseball in KB.
There’s probably more but I can’t remember. I will say this, the Music to Duel to the Death is good and perfect for the Pai Mei sequence in Vol.2. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tarantino uses it.
Okay this may sound stupid, but when Uma was on the floor rolling around and having a good time slicing all the Crazy 88s’ legs, it reminded me of Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.! All Uma had to say was
Cowabunga! and it would’ve been perfect ;D. Oh yeah, and Sally Menke was also the editor on the Turtles movie.
This is reaching a bit, but most of the references in Kill Bill have already been mentioned.
Watch the last scene from A Fistful of Dollars…where the camera zooms out and in the foreground is that wooden structure thing that Clint Eastwood’s character hangs from after Baxter’s men shoot at his horse at the beginning (and the bartender hangs from towards the end). Just the layout of this scene reminds me a lot of the wide angle shot that Quentin cuts to during the Bride/O-Ren swordfight. The positioning of the object is pretty similar, and that was the first thing I thought of when I saw that shot in Kill Bill.

It is a killer theme, isn’t it? I’ve been trying to find what the lyrics are to the singing version that plays at the end.
SWITCHBLADE SISTERS = The Bride vs. Vernita (?)
Yea the bride vs. vernita fight was inspired by by switchblade sisters. But what about the charactor patch from switchblade sisters. surely she kinda inspired Elle too ?
Donna
It’s pretty obvious, and it may have been noticed, but Uma outlining the square with her fingers; Pulp.
DUEL TO THE DEATH
DTTD inspired the scene where Gogo goes out on the balcony to look for the bride, whilst the bride clings to the ceiling. The set and timing are almost exactly the same.
Also, parts of the HOBL battle was inspired by the Ching Wan/Hashimoto Vs. the 50 Ninjas fight.
Other possible references:
- The 3 rapid cuts when Sofie is talking on the cell-phone in the car could’ve been inspired both by Hitchock’s
The Birds andReturn of the Living Dead, where the same exact technique is used.
- In
Ninja 3: Domination, the ninja chick cuts a billiard ball in half with her sword, very much like Uma and the baseball.
I didn’t know where to post this…I just found this on ebay, and it looks really fuckin cool. Check this shit out.
I just watched First of Fury for the first time. A fucking awesome movie!!!
The scene where he fights the bushido school in the dojo is pretty similar to the scene in HOBL. Bruce Lee also starts rolling on the floor and hits the dudes in kimonos with his nunchaku.
and then when all are defeated, he stands up and looks upon the mess, just like in Kill bill.
I know that this has been mentioned before, but its really cool. Whoever hasn’t seen this movie yet, buy it watch it love it!
