John Waters: The King of Trashy Movies

#1

I’ve been a John Waters fan ever since I saw Polyester. I’ve seen most of his films (except his infamous earliest ones) and I really get a kick out of all of them. They arent for everyone, but if you love quirky, wacky, often disgusting, over the top movies, you should like his stuff.

One of my favorites of his is Pecker. I just enjoy the hell out of this film. Like I’ve said before, I’m a big believer in character driven films. If I enjoy spending time with the movie characters, it doesnt matter how stupid a story or plot is, I love it. (I’m not saying Pecker has a bad story though).

Anyway, Pecker has a great cast and its probably one of Waters’ more mainstream films, although it does still have offensive stuff in it.

POLYESTER is freakin hilarious!

PINK FLAMINGOS…Ehhh…Well, if you get in the proper mood this can be one of the most mesmerizing trips that a moviegoer can be subjected to! Although I love the mostly rockabilly soundtrack.

DESPERATE LIVING-Again, this was Waters at his most raw & underground peak. What else is there to say? Oh, I got it, they dont make em like this anymore!

Haven’t seen his recent stuff. Only seen parts of HAIRSPRAY,CECIL,SERIAL MOM and CRYBABY. CRYBABY is the only one that caught my attention…For some odd reason.

PECKER seems like a winner though. I’m gonna have to give that one a look!

John Waters is great. He truly just doesn’t even give a fuck. I’ve got the “Pink Flamingos/Female Trouble” double-disc DVD. It’s great. Divine was a madman (or woman, which ever way you wanna look at it). I’ve seen a lot of Waters’ work. Obviously, the two listed above, “Hair Spray”, “Serial Mom”, “Cry Baby”, “Pecker”, and “Cecil B. Demented”. The only movie of his I remember not liking was “Cecil B. Demented”, although, if I can recall correctly, I viewed it a long time ago when I was ignorant of how truly great the man is. Perhaps I should give it another chance.

I’ll get around to picking up more of his films on DVD someday. There are three or for of those double-disc sets out there. “Polyester” and “Desperate Living” look pretty cool, but I’d really love to see “Multiple Maniacs”. Sounds like a riot! Still waiting for “Cry Baby” to come out on DVD. By far my favorite Waters movie.

Who else could write a character named “Hatchet-Face”? Who else could use the term “cunt eyes” and a way of expressing endearment? Who else would film a man in drag consuming DOG SHIT? Anyway you slice it, the man’s a genius. Pure fuckin’ genius. LONG LIVE JOHN WATERS!

P.S. Anybody know if he’s gonna be doin’ somethin’ new anytime in the future?

“Hey, why dont you be a good little girl and put your vagina up to the phone?” - John Waters as a Prank Phone Caller in Pecker

Yeah, that shit IS scary.  I used to call some chick “Shovel-Mug” in high school.  Her face looked like it had been beat it with a shovel.  Then I saw “Cry Baby” and Shovel-Mug was appropriately dubbed “Hatchet-Face” for the rest of our high school days.  God that bitch was ugly.  Later.

You’re mean and evil and odius.

You’re right.  I am.  I’m also cold-hearted, sinister, and rotten.  It’s feels SO GOOD to be SO BAD!

Seriously, if you actually hung out with me, I’m a pretty likeable guy.  Even though I am a cynical, evil prick most of the time.  Later.

P.S. If you think callin’ some girl “Shovel-Mug” and “Hatchet-Face” is mean and evil, you should hear some of my jokes…

EXAMPLE…

What’s nine inches long, pink, stiff, and keeps a woman up all night screaming?

CRIB DEATH.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Holy shit! I just watched Cecil B Demented for second time and i laughed my ass off. I got it for christmas and I have to admit it was one of the best gifts i got. Besides Demented I’ve only seen Cry Baby and I’d like to see Pink Flamingos and Polyester.

Oh yeah… one question:

Can anyone tell what was the movie playing in the ‘Karate Marathon’ Theatre?

pink flamingos is the only water film i saw. i almost saw serial mom. PF is so fucking good. it was waters idea to eat the shit. Divine went to hospital afterwards.

#10

Pecker is the only movie of his I’ve seen. I really like it.

#11

But does anyone know the answer to my question i asked previously?

whats so great about a 300 pound transvestite eating dog shit?

I’ve seen a majority of Waters films. Couldn’t really get into some of them but they were indeed shocking in one way or another. Pecker was pretty good I liked it. I really liked Cecil B Demented, that was pretty fuckin funny at some points. I’ve always wanted to see Mondo Trasho, which was (from what I’ve heard) just a bunch of incoherent and random happenings that goes on for about 2 hours or so. Desperate Living was pretty messed up as well, I think that’s the one where Divine sticks a cross up his ass. I didn’t really like Pink Flamingos, I thought it was pretty fuckin repulsive.

I went to an art house the other day for a midnight movie screening of Fight Club, and before the movie, they had a PSA with Waters, he was smoking a ciggarette, and he was telling the audience not to smoke during the movie, it was so funny. Id try to explain it in more detail, but it would probably ruin it.

NC-17 version of Female Trouble comes on tonight on IFC!

#16

Pink Flamingos was pretty awesome. Behind all the repulsive stuff there was actually meaning. The only thing I really thought was too much was that guy with the fluctuating asshole.

#17

Waters is back!

Trailer for A Dirty Shame:http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/a_dirty_shame/

I see that it’s got the same rating as Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble, but I seriously doubt that this will be as repulsive as those other pieces of lovable trash!

Waters always has Mink Stole in his films. In this one she plays, Marge the Neuter. I think she’s great, she’s got a website, but it’s not that great. http://www.minkstole.com/

Iv’e only seen Cecil B Demented which was awsome. Funniest movie about making a mvoe ever made. Although some dialouge is a bit cheese fuck it. it still kicks fucking ass
