Italian Cinema

What are your favorite Italian films & Directors?

Im in love with italian films, I would like to get some advice about good films and directors.

The ones I know are Vittorio De Sica, Sergio Leone, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti.

ill post some of my fav directors

Giallo:Bava, Argento, Fulci

Cannibal:Deodato, Lenzi

Spaghetti Westerns: Leone, Corbucci, Sollima, Tessari, Valerii

Poliziotteschi: Di Leo, Castellari

General: Martino(he’s done just about every type)

Artistic classics:Fellini, De Sica, Mucchino (Gabriel)

These are all amazing directors and in my opinion the movies they made are essential for any italian cinema lover. Recent italian cinema, as QT has said, is boring nowadays

I like Federico Fellini and Sergio Leone.

Argento all the way. That crane shot in tenebrae is insane!!!

Roberto Rossellini, Mario Bava, and Sergio Leone are my top three favorite Italian directors.

Im saddened that Leone doesn’t get the respect he deserves, Not only did he create a new genre from a dying genre and influence filmmakers in this generation, he also made art movies for a big audience, thats hard to do. He deserves to get the same respect as Fellini, Visconti and Rosselini gets. I think he’s the best of all time and he only did 7 films.

Il Gattopardo is fucking fantastic

Valerio Zurlini is an Italian director I discovered last year on DVD, he made two films I really loved: Girl with a Suitcase and Violent Summer.

My favorite Italian directors: Federico Fellini, Vittorio DeSica, Michaelangelo Antonioni, Bernardo Bertolucci, Sergio Leone, Mario Bava, Sergio Martino, Lucio Fulci, Fernando Di Leo, Sergio Corbuccci, Enzo G Castellari, Luciano Ercoli

Did any of you read this? sorry if it was posted somewhere else.
