Sam L. Jackson is Nick Fury!! How bad ass was that??

Awesome film. I saw it last weekend. One of the best super hero films Ive seen.

I don’t know why everybody says that it’s so damn great. It’s fun, sure, the action is okay, and Robert D.J. plays Stark perfectly, but in the end it’s just another stupid blockbuster, exchangeable and bland.

Nowhear near the perfection of Spider-Man 1+2, with their perfect storytelling, action scenes, oozing with pop culture greatness, or Batman Begins, which was perfect and deep.

I dont think any super hero films have been totally perfect in every aspect (origin story/plot/characters/FX). Spidey, Batman Begins and Iron Man are closer than most of em. IM is an awesome Marvel super hero movie, thats what Im judging it on, not as a cinema masterpiece in the vein of Citizen Kane.

I think the toughest films to do are the first ones with the origins. In that area, Iron Man was very nicely executed and paced really well. For me, its right up with Sam’s Spider Man 1 as the best of Marvels output so far.

Also Iron Man is a really great character for 2008. Its almost as if he could exist in our world. I love that aspect.

that I liked too.

I enjoyed the movie, but I think it’s very overrated atm.

It’s not overrated at all. Personnaly I hate these “deep” stories about superheroes. IMO super hero movies have to be entertaining as hell and Iron Man was!!

couldnt have put it better myself. the dark knight is the superhero movie im waiting to see.

I think overall the way Favs did Iron Man is was definitely one of the most true to the original material, nicely paced, directed, acted super hero films. And Ive seen em all. From Superman to Swamp Thing to Batman (all of em) to Spidey to Hulk (hated it) to Fantastic Four to The Punisher to Ghost Rider.

Overrated: That could be true. Sometimes when movies come out the hype overshadows the actual film, but for me, IM lived up to the hype in almost every area. The only thing that wasnt that great was the score. Besides that it was very good.

You definitely need some kind of personal connection to super heroes for the films to work. Otherwise its just an empty experience. You really need to create characters you can believe and identify with. Iron Man was great in that area. I believed a guy like Tony Stark could change and finally have a true purpose in his life. He was a rich playboy, but in his heart, he wanted to do something meaningful. The capture/imprisonment and death of Yin Sen changed him.

I cant wait for Watchmen to come out. That one should be PERFECT!

sorry

Do they play the Black Sabbath song in the movie? Please tell me they do!

I thought it was a pretty good flick. I think it did a good job of tackling some pretty big issues without ever really dwelling on them. It was good fun entertainment and that’s really all you can ask for in just about any film. I’m not sure it would have worked as well without Robert Downey Jr though. I don’t think I would have cared for the character as much if Downey hadn’t put so much charisma into it.

Iron Man was incredible it sure exceeded my expectations. I had a problem with the film’s antagonist (Jeff Bridges aka “The Dude”) - it was kind of a dull ending but overall it was enjoyable. Did any of you guys stay until the ending credits, Sam Jackson makes an appearence in a deleted scene.

Yeah, but it’s not the ending ‘dude’. It’s only the beginning. The next one should be a continuation. If not, I’ll slit my wrists, cos I loved this movie so much! Seriously! It really made you feel like you got more than your money’s worth, and didn’t seem boring at all. I was actually DREADING the end, cos I didn’t want it to be over! Best adaptation of a comic ever! Love it!! Love it!!! Bought a t-shirt! Love it!

Yeah, they’ve already announced a sequel for 2010 but I think the true continuation will be in the new Avengers movie which is slated for 2009, I think. The weird thing is that they don’t already have Jon Favreau locked down for the sequel.

They don’t have Favreau on yet? I thought everything was a go. That is weird.

Over the end credits

Yeah, it’s like Ghost Rider only had the Johnny Cash song, “Ghost Rider” over the ending credits. Of course, it wasn’t the Johnny Cash version. Fuckers.

As a comic book reader, this movie did the most homage to the genre of Superhero movies out there. Now lets see what the Incredible Hulk looks like in the upcoming days.

Does Iron Man set a new standard to live up too?
