Hostel

well between you and I… the movie, although remarkable, correct and inspiring lacks the usual pun and tongue and cheek play Tarantino is known for.

  1. continuity
  2. graffic content and language
  3. one cameo reference to his usual cast selections of actors.

what i think most remarkable about the movie is the unknown territory of eastern europe, its history in the war II and its recent change in political stance with NATO

the buildings, the set, the people and the children… make the movie realistic

the torturings and scenes are too graphic… and contrived mixture of “chainsaw massacre”

“It’s Alive” and "Night of the Living Dead"

I felt like what was said about his reaction to rob zombies’ comment on Entertainment Tonight saying “House of Wax” ~~"Tarantino’s movies pale in comparison to this one"

after seeing “Hostel” I think Tarentino rules in content and intent above Rob Zombies

style. A direct reprisal from a pop icon (Tarentino) and a recovered crystal methy addict

(Zombie) regardless a well executed and artistic movie if viewed with strong mind and

    ability to block out gore.

    LONG LIVE ROMERO!!!

ok so what are you saying?

Eli Roth made it. And your comments are talking about Tarantino when he didn’t even make Hostel.

hostel topped this weekend’s box office

When paxton was caught he claimed that he’s not American, so they checked his passport and found out the truth, and resumed what they were doing. So obviously they only want to capture Americans. If that’s so then why was one of the torturers American? That the only thing I didn’t understand in the movie…

That guy was a Canadian to me. :stuck_out_tongue:

But ah, so refreshing to go to a multiplex in my neighborhood and see a nice, grisly horror movie for once. Well, to me, a real great horror movie is one that starts and ends as a terrorfying picture (The opening credits to this was a brilliant start) but you’ll have to wait and endure some American Pie/Roadtrip humor and situations for about 25 minutes before the “fun” begins. But even in the beginning, it was nice to see tons of buns and boobies along the way.

Loved the Roth & Miike cameos. And Jules Winfield saying the Ezekiel speech in a foreign tongue.

So maybe I have a sick sense of humor, but I just could not stop smiling during the last half hour.

Can’t wait to get this DVD!

I plan on seeing this movie sometime this week.

From what I’ve read so far it has mixed reviews. I’m not one that really listens to reviews though. Kill Bill vol1 got horrible reviews and I am blown away every time I see it.

Any reviews from you guys? Give a heads up for spoilers…

No. Last night on Kimmel show, Roth said that the wages vary from each countrymen. European victims were around $10,000. Americans were $20,000. Asians were $50,000.

a review

i loved this movie alot, i seen it last sunday, this years upcoming movies has some competition early

I totally didn’t know that Takashi Miike had a cameo in Hostel. When i watched it and he appeared on screen, i was like “Man, that’s Miike!” He has a very distinctive face. Damn, that is cool. He is like the master. That would have been an honour to have him do a cameo in Roth’s film.

It had all the prices in the film, on the back of the Hunting card.

Takashi Miike playing Takashi Miike? That just made it so cool for me cause hes playing himself the director who when you think about it goes there to torture people plus his lines a really cool to! Overall in hostel i must admit i didn’t feel bad for the characters cause they all seemed like self indulgent lowlifes to me… but whatever

I’ve found out that SF will show Hostel in Sweden… 3rd March is the premiere…

Really i was surprised this wasnt more violent really - i was surprised just how much violence was not seen - they played up the atmos well but it wasnt shocking - i was expecting more, heh that eye thing made me think of evil dead

I personally think saw was horrendosly horrible, except for the last like, 30 seconds. But then again i dont like horror, aside from the terrible acting. Not interested in seeing hostel. A friend of mine went to see it because it was attached to Quentin, and he said it made him feel like less of a person.
