Hard Boiled (1992) Directed by John Woo

This was the movie that started it all for me. My introduction to Woo,Chow,Tony,Anthony,HK New Wave…Wow, almost 13 years ago.

Hard to believe, but I’m still fine with my Fox Lorber disc (What can I say? These “MUST LOVE VHS” guys here at this board must be converting me!)

My first HK Woo film was the Killer…

The sad thing is when I was 13 I liked Paycheck :o

So far i’ve only seen the killer…I really got to see Hard Boiled

I always wanted to see how an HKL trailer for HB would look like. And here it is, although under a new distibutor title

Speaking of John Woo, I can’t wait for his game Stranglehold (which is the sequel to Hard Boiled) to come out for the Xbox 360.

He should’ve actually made it into a movie not a video game.

I think ABT and the Killer are better than Hard Boiled, but Hard Boiled as pure balls to the wall action enjoyment beats them both…

has anyone ever read the book rebel without a crew rodriguez often talks about how he loves this movie

I love this movie too.

How could someone not love this movie?

judgeing from the woo films i seen he was a big influence on rodriguez’s earlier films like mariachi and desperado.

RR is obviously influenced by him and I think in a nice way…he uses it to add some edge to his movies.

I love fast action and stylized action and nobody can top mistah Woo.

The hospital shoot-out is God’s gift to action cinema.

Word.

I’m happy that Dragon Dynasty picked this one up, hopefully ‘The Killer’ will be one of their 2008 releases.

When are they releasing it?

July 24th

This movie sucks. Too much action, too much melodrama and the way it was filmed just turned me off it even more.

Bullet in the head is where it’s at with Woo, although that is more melodramatic then everything he’s ever done.
