But doesn’t the meaning include getting pleasure from such things? even though it is painful and sad?
Being a sadist means one who enjoys to inflict pain to others. Masochistic is the one who receives the pain. Just think of S&M (you freaks lol). One can’t exist without the other.
In this case, the Bride is the sadist because she caused Bill pain such heart-ache. Bill on the other hand is 'at his most masochistic because it hurts him beyond any other pain to put a bullet into Brides head. ONe of the best monologues in QT’s work.

I totally agree with you there, I can’t stop listening to it. Although the way David Carradine says his lines has something to do with it. He has this really cool, deep voice, a kinda unusual one, which really adds to the greatness of Kill Bill. Does he smoke by the way??
I don’t know if you could call the Bride a sadist, because she didn’t willingly cause pain in Bill’s heart. She was doing what was best for her baby.
yea but at that time bill didn’t know the reason why she left or even that he baby was his.
I think that Bill’s monolouge and shooting the Bride is one of the greatest opening scenes ever. The first sight of the Bride suddenly jolts and sobers you up from the humour of the retro opener and clingon joke, and then Bill’s monolouge (I agree he has got an amazing voice) which is filled with affection when addressing her while at the same time preety much reading her a death warrent…and then her yelling out that sentance before the loud shot…brilliant, it completley shocks you (plus I think its complemented very well by that song in the opening credits). Incidently I wonder if Bill only registered what she was saying after he shot her…or if he heard her say it was his baby and shot her anyway…I cant help feeling it was the previous…

Definately my favourite opening sequence, it is a strong rival to Leone’s opening sequences!
I think he hears her and knows what she is about to say but shoots her anyway. The flash back The Bride has in the hospital I think backs up my point!
Bill was and is strongly attached to the Bride, so he really in essence was killing or hurting a piece of himself or soul when dispatching the Bride in an utterly sadistic and brutal way. That’s what I gathered from the dialogue. He still loved her.

Yeah I guess, still, Bill must have done something really bad to disshonour Hanzo, for Hanzo to go break his oath…

yeah, he bacame a murdering bastard.
and bill knew the bride had his baby before she had said anything at all. the man is no fucking idiot, and can do the math in his head. for example, is she had left bill eight months ago, and now shes about to pop one out any day now, then obviously bill had knocked her up before she left. unless of course she was a slut.

No, the way they’re selling Hanzo swords is cheap. Commercial as shit. I wonder how many people have bought that half plastic absolutely non-samurai sword and think they’re cool.

I already have one. This is the real Hanzo thing.
I doubt the 300 dollars pieces are plastic
