a chick who knows her stuff! 8)
Hi Fans
I am Rachel from the UK.
I can’t say I like every Tarantino film (Boo, I hear you shout) but I like most of them and Kill Bill rates in my top 10 movies of all time. I really enjoyed Dusk till Dawn as I love vampire movies, but I’m sorry I didnt really understand Reservoir Dogs. I love movies and am a big fan of the cinema, as most of the DVD’s I have I have watched the film on the big screen first.
What i liked most about Kill Bill was it was a passionate revenge filled with emotion that only a woman could have played (don’t misunderstand me I know men are emotional too). What I mean is Beatrix is bent on revenge with no compromise and she caries out her vengence with ruthless precision, only at the end when it is all over do you see all her bottled up emotions flood out in the scene in the bathroom. She doesn’t know how she should feel, happy or sad all she can do is release the tears and move on with her daughter and put the past behind her. So Wonderful.
Anyway, it’s great to be amongst you.
Brand fucking new here… old Tarantino Girl.
First exposure was waaay back in the day… I think I was 12 or 13… somewhere around there. Stumbled upon Pulp Fiction and loved it even though I didn’t understand half of what was going on. I knew enough then to realize that the movie saved John travolta’s career (at least for another 4 years or so )
I love movies. Period. But I’m a movie snob. You will not catch me watching something like The Girl Next Door or The Prince and Me… no… it’s indie or at least well done for me. I think character is the most important element. And the only road to a strong character is dialogue. I love QT’s dialogue… and I love Kevin Smith’s style… as a fan-girl, it’s really heartening to see dorks and criminals on screen talking about regular shit (burgers, comic books ect) in an elevated way. QT changed cinema for an entire generation by reaching new levels of the mundane and the stylistic at the same time.
As far as violence goes… I love it in movies, hate it in real life. In real life, I’m beyond squeamish… I made buger patties today and thought I might vomit from touching bloody, pulpy beef (I didn’t, btw). But I love the freedom to have legitimate violence in movies. It’s a release. I do a lot of theater, and the shows I’ve loved doing the most are the ones with a heavy amount of carnage (I was Tamora in Titus Andronicus, and just recently did Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead… which isn’t violent, but I did stab player pretty elaborately…) I love stage blood… I love choreographing and practicing fights and deaths… it’s great. So while raw burger grosses me out, I kind of get off a little on dying on stage in a pool of stage blood. :
Favorite QT movie: RD, but only marginally. I can really watch all of them over and over.
Favorite Character: Mr. Orange… “sexy and pocketsized”… and I’d love to play that part… to spend all that time screaming an crying and dying in the blood… it’s an actor’s dream. And Tim Roth… I like 'em english and bowlegged.
hi Ms Orange and welcome to the board. You sound a lot like me, except my feelings for Tim Roth are strong but more or less platonic, and I love blood in real life. The thought of it flowing around my (or anyone else’s) body freaks me out, but to see it is ok. Well, I’ve got Mr. Tarantino to thank for that attitude, I suppose.
hey girls show me love show me love ;D :
hello everyone! here u have an another girl.
I love QT…but most of my female friends don’t like his movies or have never heard about him. :o
at first I borrowed RD from my neighbour…thaught it was cool…nothing more cause I didn’t understood the whole film. but now I’ve seen all his movies (RD, PF, JB, KB) and love them all. speciall PF…I just love Uma Thurman also… :-*
hello, Im a new guy and i think girls who love QT are fucking awsome. I have never been with a girl who enjoys his work and its cool to no that those girls exist. I wanna ask where do girls like you hang out? O well… :-</E>
I hang in Paris France, and I’m fan of Mister Quentin Tarantino.
He has so much love so much love, and he is a great sensitive artist and a very beautiful man.
I saw KB 5 times Uma is fantastic, JB, PF and saw RD only several sequences on DVD. I will see RD soon without interruption. Also FDTD, a very good Rodriguez film I remember well. I’m usually very afraid and turn the head when I watch violent films, but not with the QT films, I was surprised of that. I like to write in English but it’s a bit slow (3 dictionnaries on my desk)…

I’m a theater brat. Most of the other female Tarantino fans I’ve met are theater girls too… gives you a perspective on the theatricality of it, I guess.
See, I’ve yet to find a guy who has as deep a passion for these movies as I do… so far, they’ve all been fairly periphreal… shrugs the search continues :

I know! It takes me probably an average of about 10 minutes to bring up Reservoir Dogs and Tarantino in general; I say I love Tarantino films and they usually say they do (or they don’t), and if they say they love the films, I just sigh inwardly and think ‘no you don’t’ because the subject is always changed and I know they just think they’re ‘good films’ or whatever. They don’t really love
them.
I think with girls who love Tarantino films it’s always gonna be more honest because it’s not something that’s just ‘expected’ of us.
howdy. All of my friends think I am weird for being a QT fan! When I watch a movie, I watch it because I like the director. Also, I think he is kinda hot. Im not the only one who thinks this am I? Or am I a fucking weirdo.
I’m a girl, so I guess I should introduce myself here as well.
I got into Tarantino movies by picking up Kill Bill Vol.1 in a store out of curiousity from all the publicity, and seeing “outrageous humour” in the description. I figured the movie couldn’t be so bad, so I rented it, and enjoyed it. Actually, there was no humour in it except for the Pussy Wagon, which I instantly fell in love with.
After that, I did some research on QT and raided the rental store weekly in search of more of his movies. Now I own a fair few and can call myself a fan.
I get the impression that girls are more freaked out by his movies, because of the violence, needles sticking out of hearts, etc. I’ve never found this sort of thing even remotely disturbing, so I just take QT’s movies as any other regular movie I might see. And no insult to any other girlies who don’t mind this violence and stuff, but all the girlies I know think it’s sick.
And I don’t get insulted by the constant pussy references. They’re the best bits, I laugh my head off.
I think QT’s hot as well. That’s partly why I watch his movies so much. Especially Pulp Fiction, I like his acting. He’s a film geek, and I am attracted to film geeks and sorts.
thats cool
Well, Im not the only one then! If only I could find a sexy film geek around here! All the guys from where I live, think the best movie of all time is “the fast and the furious” and shit movies like that.
Oh well, You cant win’em all, can you now.
I think because i’ve watched violent films since I was very young (without my parents permission, they wouldnt let me watch them!) Iv’e been pretty much desensitised with violence. Also when I was 4, I watched a documentary about how violent films are made, so they didn’t freak me out at all. Anyway I really dont think Quentin films are really violent at all. The ear cutting scene in “Reservoir Dogs” isn’t as bad as people say, in my opinion anyway. It shouldn’t be R rated.
It’s hard as hell to find a sexy film geek around here too. I had one and let him go a long time ago. Major regrets here. sigh :’(
Thank you for the welcome…
I’m not a theater brat. I got something about terror because one day after seeing a horror film I fall in a faint (thought I’m not fragile) in the subway, and I had to say to the subway’s employee I faint because it was my feeling after seeing an horror film and he wrote it and took my name and adress. It was cold like being catched by the police. Anyway I don’t blame this horror film.
The Fast and the Furious is one of my favourite movies.
Oh, interesting.
Hey, I’m fairly new here but never put myself in this topic, so here I am…
I’m from the UK (which is cool as the Brit film mags love QT), and I just like Quentin’s films cos they’re cool, original and quirky in their own way, and you can’t imagine anyone else making them. I kinda went off him after he disappeared, but seeing Kill Bill was just like “oh thank God you’re back - it’s been so boring without you”!
Most of my female friends have never heard of him, so I think it is kinda rare to find women who have seen his films, but I’m certainly not offended by any “pussy” references or anything like that as it kinda shows how strong the character is, e.g. the Bride being raped by Budd.
I’m a geeky film person too - Star Wars / LOTR / Matrix and stuff like that.
