La dolce vita was waaaaay too long!!! He was takin crazy pills.
[/quote]loooool i agree
you guys are crazy
how can anything that good be too long?
fellini owns all directors in the transfering emotions and dreams to the screen…
he creates wonderful worlds, that are much more interesting than the real thing, just amazing stuff…
I totally love his work and worship 8 1/2
totally agree, Fedrico is God
he’s one of the main reasons Italy’s simply the best country in the world when it comes to film, beats America, France, Japan and UK all to hell when it comes to film
and he’s just such a fascinating man, its redicilous, he didnt record sound so he could simply tell the actors what to do while they were doing it instead of telling them in advance, to me that’s brilliant, he improvised his directions, he was just a painter, using the actors as paint, an artist
besides Dolce Vita and 8 1/2, “Vitelloni, I” and “Il Bidone” and increadibly underrated, it fuckin’ blows my mind how these films can just pass on by unnoticed, these are masterpieces man, sure filmlovers like them, sure they were hot back in the day, but the average joe has not heard of these films and they SHOULD, because they are GREAT and greatness CANNOT be IGNORED!
like tarantino_is_god said, he creates his own world over and over again, worlds that are more beautiful than any sunset or any backyard barbeque in perfectville
^i wasnt agreeing with the guy when he said that fellinis movie were too long. i never even watched it, (i have a book of casanovas writings incliding his increadibly long suicide letter-i still got to read through my ever growing library until i get to it though). i have to say already respect him for making such a film, there was a great casanova movie already before fellini made it and he could not shoot the movie in the historical scenes, so he actually had to have apotyemkin village(fake buildings made to look real) created of the original scenes.
i was agreeing with that guy on the grounds that it is very hard to belive that a sober guy makes such wierd ass movies that are so psycadelic, with hippies, hoes and all that.
I’ve only seen two Federico Fellini films: La Dolce Vita, which I thought was great (Rating - 9/10) and Amarcord which was ok (Rating - 5/10) I am looking forward to seeing more films from Fellini. I’ve heard that La Strada and 8½ are really great.
i’ve seen I Vitelloni which I liked very much 8/10 but I didn’t really like 8½, I’d give it 6/10
