Favorite DVD Commentary

Let me know about it. I’d rather have it for VHS, but if it’s worth having the DVD…I’ll get it, too.

Well Switchblade Sisters is a kind of “Some like it some dont” kind of film(if you know what I mean)so if you like it you definitely want to go for the dvd. There is lots of background information from QT and Jack Hill in the commentary about the film but I see a bunch of times Quentin will get off track and talk about Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs which is not my favorite thing for someone during a commentary to do but overall its a real joy to listen to and hear QT’s love of the film.

the switchblade commentary is really cool. the intro/outro are ok but there are a lot of trailers and the transfer is great, not too clean
I thought the intro/outro was kind of weird, it was almost like he was floating.

anyone hear the desperado and once upon a time in mexico commentary? there both great. I really enjoy rodriguez’s comentarys on all his films…i still gotta listen to the rest on the sin city 2 disc set.
;D I LOVE Robert’s dvd commentaries!!!

Yeah man, awesome. Thanks for the long-waited review.

I guess I’ll stick with VHS. If I like it enough, I’ll expand my collection onto DVD.

I can tell you what my LEAST favorite commentary is: there is a french dvd of reservoir dogs (which is more or less the same as the 10th anniversary edition) that proudly announces a BRAND NEW AUDIO COMMENTARY BY QT!! so i bought this the day of its release, just for the commentary, knowing that i already have the 10th anniversary edition and guess what : no commentary, it was just the soundtrack of the interviews that are already in the extras. What a scam, 3 years later and i’m still pissed off.

yea, reservoir dogs has to have one of the worst of all time.

The Casino commentary follows the same format. It’s just as bad. :frowning:

listened to the first Sin City Commentary last night, with QT and RR. It was great like usual for RR commentarys, going to listen to the RR and FM one tonight if i have time.

Damn That sucks, casino is one of my all time favorite films, never listened to the commentary though.

Rodriguez’s commentarys put me to sleep. I hated that QT was in the commentary for only a few minutes.

yea he talks too fast, and at sometime i found myself paying attention to the film, but he gives alot of usefull information.

Just finished the El Mariachi commentary and found it to be very interesting. It actually made the movie even better for me.

I actually think he talks too slow and most of the time doesn’t have alot of enthusiasm in his voice.

most of his DVD voices are slow but the sin city one is pretty fast in a low tone.his voice reminds me of my orthodontist’s voice.

he reminds me of droopy

Because I didn’t enter the thread yet! :stuck_out_tongue:

But yup, Bruce’s solo commentary on the 1st Evil Dead is gold.
Yeah… probably my favorite… Though there are alot of films i dont watch commentarys for because hearing how there done/ are fake can be bothering but for evil dead its great

why is the bruce campbell commentary so good?

btw i really like kevin smith’s commentaries, most of the time, i prefer to watch his films with the commentary than without

i gotta check out the bruce cambell one tonight.

Listened to the King Boxer commentary, very good but I got the feeling that Elvis Mitchell didnt like QT like much(anyone else got this feeling?)Plus usually I never hear a “Fuck” or “Shit” in a commentary but I heard it a couple of times, “Uh Shit!” Overall it was a very fun commentary

Naw, they seemed cool to me. Remember at the beginning when the 2 of them were just going off in a conversation and the other commentator was like “Meanwhile, back to the movie…”

i might check out the Dead next door commentary tonight, since it was shot 8mm for like 9 grand, there may be some useful facts in there.

Yeah that what was I was talking about Elvis said “Can we get back to movie” I thought he sounded pissed off but I could be wrong, Elvis Mitchell seems like a really cool guy(loved him in the Sam Peckinpaw Doc)

I Spit On Your Grave (Joe Bob not Meir Zarchi, that sucked! jesus christ, you don’t know when he’s reading from reviews or speaking his own opinions and he has a very strange accent and doesn’t say that much at all, WORST EVER)
