Greetings all, I’ve just uploaded the final cut of my first short film Dollar Menu. You can check it in the link below, or click the link in my sig.

I feel the need to say a few words about it, basically this was done more as a sort of “test” or “learning experience”, that said I’d still like critisms (or praise ). It may not make a whole lot of sense, but hopefully you find it entertaining!
it was good ino there is only one line of diolage in the scene but try to be alittle more orignal with it it seems as if u were intentially tryin to write like tarantino, other than that it was good i liked how the killing scene was filmed and the lollypop thing.
Oo yea i forgot i liked the pulp fiction referance too i was surprised when he came in with the chainsaw and highly amused.

Thanks! Noted as well.
Yeah, I’ll definitely work to be more orginal. I totally admit was ripping off QT in this one, but some of the QT like stuff I didn’t realize was QT like at the time. Like the last bit of a dialogue, that’s a conversation I had with my friend in a Icky Mickey’s, so I figured why the hell not… And tossed it in. In retrospect, it’s like yeah I was totally ripping off QT, but indirectly! Then again if we hadn’t been on a Pulp Fiction high at the time maybe we wouldn’t have had the conversation at all.
Oh yeah and the Mr. White name wasn’t intended to be a res dogs reference, I created the character before I saw res dogs and wrote some short stories and shit about him, his name being Jack White (reference to the white stripes BTW) but he liked to be addressed as Mr. White because it sounded more professional. Then I saw res dogs and I was “shit now everyone will think I was ripping it off”. I’m still trying to find a new name, but nothing seems to stick quite as well.
I also forgot to mention in my original post that after the credits there is a kind of funny “the end” freeze frame deal.
yea but it was really well shot in my opinion directing wise.
what type of dv camera did you shoot this on and what lighting did you use?

I shot on a one chip Cannon, the ZR500. It’s actually a nice little camera I’d recommend it for a first camera to anyone on the market for that kinda thing, it shoots wide and has a mic port. Pretty nice for 300$, just get yourself a mic and tape it to a stick and you’re golden.
As far as lighting goes… None! I literally knew nothing about making a movie at the time, so I didn’t do any lighting set-ups. That building is lit really well though, which is why I got away with it. I also had the luxury of it being overcast that day, which made shooting outside a breeze.
yea the movie looked awsome it actually almost looked better then my panasonic ag-dvc-7 which i payed 1400 for.
it looked like you used alot of lighting too good job.
