Details and Speculation

recently watched pulp fiction again for the first time in years and

I wanted to ask a few things:

  1. Do you think that Marcellus will still forgive Butch once he finds

out that Butch killed Vincent? It never occured to me before, but

Marcellus does not know that Butch shot Vincent, and Butch certainly

doesn’t volunteer the information. I know that Butch saved Marcellus’

life, but Vincent was a good friend of his… I’m not quite sure what

    to make of this.

  2. Do you think P and HB will stop doing robberies? Will Jules’ speech

convince Pumpkin (ringo) at least, to stop his life of crime? I get

the sense that Pumpkin is deeply moved by what Jules says.

  3. Now that Vincent is dead, do you think Mia will tell Marcellus what

    happened with the heroin?

  4. Why can you see Marvin’s head in the trunk when it was supposed to

    have been blown apart?

  5. What the hell are the guys doing in the “fantasy” sequence where

Bonnie comes home? Moving the body into the house?

  6. Why did Marcellus go to get the donuts instead of Vincent? Vincent

is the underling, it seems silly that Marcellus went. Perhaps he just

    had to take a shit?

Answers to any and all questions are requested.

    Thank you.

Lemme try to help out here.

I think Marcellus just says fuck it, hires a new man. He doesn’t look like the type of guy to take back his word on letting him go. I’ve actually wondered this myself.

I think he was both moved and frightened. He was in a situation where if he (or the others) make the wrong move. They’re all dead. Jules played cool and explained it all to him. I think they listened and thought about the life they’re leading. Thus they stopped.
3. Now that Vincent is dead, do you think Mia will tell Marcellus what

happened with the heroin?
Obviously.
4. Why can you see Marvin’s head in the trunk when it was supposed to

have been blown apart?
Vincent and Jules were obviously exagerating to convince Jimmy to help them.
5. What the hell are the guys doing in the “fantasy” sequence where

Just showing what would happen. I don’t think Qt thought of anything else to show besides the living room.

He probably wanted to eat some of the donuts while coming back? That’s a bit of a dumb question.

damn, anybody else got something to say about this?

1. Guys like Marsellus keep their word.

2. Look how frightend they leave. I don’t think they will try any robbery again.

3. I guess not, the consequences would be as bad for her as for Vincent. That’s what she told Vince at least.

5. The sequence was just supposed to show you what would happen, if they hadn’t finished their work till Bonnie arrives.

6. I guess he was just walking down the street and getting hungry. Vincent was lying dead in Butch’s restroom at that time by the way plus Vince’s a hitmen, not a donut boy.

Yeah, I always assumed that Butch and Marsellus’s pact would be null and void as soon as he saw that Vincent was killed.

Either way, Butch was long gone by that point and I doubt Marsellus would come after him.

Butch would DEFINITELY still be cool with Marcellus. The pact would hold. He saved his life, he doesn’t give a fuck about Vincent. He’s a mobsterboss, Vincents come and go.

I kinda doubt that Marcellus wouldn’t care about Vincent. He really trusted Vincent, letting him go out on a date with his wife and going with him to kill Butch. Though the film really dosen’t show any aspects of friendship between the two, I would imagine he would have cared or respected him.

nope, he came from butch’s apartment, that was marcellus’ gun on the kitchen table, that’s why vince didn’t react when butch came in and made all that noise, he thought it was marcellus…

That would mean, that Marsellus knew about Vincent’s death by letting Butch go.

So let me get this…

Butch comes in his apartment, finds that Imgram (or is it an UZI?) and shots Vincent when he walks out the toilet. Butch gets in his car, drives away and sees Marsellus crossing the street in front of his car afterwards. Then follows the whole shop thing with Marsellus letting Butch go at the end…right?

yes, but marcellus didn’t neccesarily know that butch killed vince, it could look like butch was on his way home I guess since he didn’t park his car outside the house, tough call…

god damn! you my friend are genius!! i have never even fucking thought of that! good insight

Couldn’t he be on his way back to the apartment either?

he could, but I guess you’d have to know what the streets down there looked like to make that call…

plus Butch was pretty quiet, not letting his presence be known, it was HIS luck Vince was taking a shit and Marcelluswas going out getting food.

As for Vince not being a donut guy…c’mon now…it’s early in the morning, couple guys on a stakeout, they are gonna get hungry, and the donnut place is half a mile away. sounds good to me. fast food.

and it wasn’t an Uzi, it was a MAC-10
