Criterion Collections

Here are my criterions

Seven Samurai

Straw Dogs

Chasing Amy

im going tommorrow to get Brazil and maybe Life Aquatic & Royal Tenenbaums

Why are you putting your money on crappy old discs? The new editions will be released in a few weeks.

Okay, I know Criterion already has a Kurasawa set but come on, there’s only 4 fuckin’ movies on it.

They need to release an ultimate set, like the Kubrick set a few years back but with the criterion features.

I think 2 sets would do it.

Set 1

Kurasawa’s Samurai tales

Rashomon 50

Seven Samurai 54

Throne of blood 57

The Hidden Fortress 58

Yojimbo 61

Sanjuro 62

Red beard 65

Kagemusha 80

Ran 85

Dreams 92?

Set 2

Kurasawa’s Non samuria

Stray Dog 49

Ikiru 52

The Bad Sleep Well 60

High and Low 63

The Lower Depths (maybe)

The first set should be 100 to 120 dollars. basically affordable. The second 50 or 60.

Who’s with me? All of his films should be in a large set like this, I mean come on he’s one of the most important directors of the 20th century, and the only set there is is four movies? Since Criterion has the rights for all these movies they should offer all of them together. Hitchcock’s got 2 sets like this out currently, that’s because different studios own the properties.

man Im just waiting for criterion to put out their cult label, Anybody heard any news about that yet?

The new Seven Samurai in comparison. As expected, the picture quality is miles ahead of the old release

^THought you got Dazed & Confused?

No I never bought it. I was going to, but I reconsidered since I see the film on TV so much. Plus, I saw one of the docs about the film on AMC. I’m not spending all that $$ for it. I love the film, but its not a DVD I really need.

I wanna buy the Do the Right Thing Criterion but it’s 60 dollars here in Canada. But Criterions are expensive anyways, what am I to expect?

Just thought I would tell everybody that alot of criterion movies are coming on IFC for those who get the channel.

Isn’t “Pandora’s Box” a little “old hat”? I mean, hasn’t it been used as a name for box sets somewhere around fifty times?
