I hadn’t read much about the project to keep some surprise. But the trailer looks really nice and it seems like the Coen are back into comedies. I love how they always alternate between a black humor and darker movie and a brighter comedy.
Anyway, another thing too, I didn’t know there were so many cool actors involved in it ! Brad Pitt, Clooney, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, JK Simmons, Malkovich (I knew for him already though).
This looks great and can’t wait to see it but sometimes I think a film can be brought down by having too many famous faces.
Like when I was watching the Oceans movies it got to the point where I felt I was watching Brad Pitt and George Clooney mucking about with their mates as opposed to the characters in the movie.
Its like sometimes writers think “it would be really cool to see Brad Pitt do this or say that”. Reminds me of little girls playing with their Ken dolls.
But then again this does look good so I hope its not the case in this instance.

Very much true. Especially about Oceans Eleven and the sequels.
I totally agree with that statement. I could never put my finger on what it was about those flicks that seemed wrong or odd, or I never gave it much thought, but that’s it.
omg Brad Pitt will so ROCK this movie! the trailer looks like he’s going back to his acting career high points like True Romance. go brad go! seriously, I love it when he plays dorks, like in 12 Monkeys
Me too, he was fabulous in 12 Monkeys and True Romance. Everytime he has to play a mad character, you can be sure, he’s gonna be awesome.
Brad Pitt is very good in Babel too =)
I got excited about John, Tilda and Frances, who I regard as proper actors who don’t often play the same characters. You can’t go wrong with those three. However, seeing Brad and George ham it up actually made me die a little bit inside. George should branch out a bit more. Seth Gecko was such a a good role that I found myself seeing Seth and not George Clooney. As for Brad Pitt? At 44, isn’t he getting a bit too old to be playing these sorts of roles. On first viewing of this trailer, I found him funny, on the third viewing, I thought he was painful.
I can’t help but think Sam Rockwell would have been better in Burn After Reading.
Still… I like George Clooney when he has someone decent to play off, of and Tilda Swinton is his new BFF so it might be fun. Other than that, this is the movie I am most looking forward to this year.
I can’t wait for this movie. With this and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Brad Pitt is going to have one hell of a year.
Weird to see the Coen brothers so quickly back to something lighter too. I guess you never know where you have them.
Brad Pitt plays a psycho in Kalifornia too, great movie. Juliette Lewis!
Yes–Brad had me after 12 Monkeys–he’s like Depp as he is not afraid to take roles that aren’t sugar coated and exploiting his good looks. So I am sure that Brad will offer the Coens the edge that they imagine for his Pitt–I mean part in the film.
Brad never had me. Ever. If he did, he’d never have settled for Angelina Jolie.
I do love Pitt in roles that are off the map and quirky. To me it shows that he is more than just a pretty face and news item. But an actor.

I disagree. Twelve Monkeys was painful. He overdid it.
here’s the longer version of the second trailer (1:48 instead of 1:07)

I’m sure that the movie will be promissing, as I said it in my first post already.
It’s the only movie I am looking forward to this year.
