Cast speculation/rumours

Leo is one of my fave actors from my generation. I was actually hoping QT would work with him one day. This would rock. If Leo is right to QT, then I say: LET IT BE SO!!!

I say go for it. Get the biggest stars he can. Round up an more infamous ensemble cast that Pulp Fiction.

All the way QT!

Kinick: I agree. QT doesnt have to do the ā€œobscure castingā€ thing forever. If this is his biggest film yet, he really should go all out with it. Id love to see QT mix it up though. Big Hollywood stars and the lesser known European exploitation actors too.

Dicaprio is another actor I have to argue for time and time again. I think its good to bring in lots of young blood for a film like this. Most people mentioned are WAYYYYYY to old to be the stars IMO. If Mark Wahlberg is next I’ll be very pleased. Seems like a no brainer.

Mark Whalberg? eugh!

I like DiCaprio and Wahlberg but I don’t want a load of A-listers crowding this movie.

What about Daniel Day Lewis as Landa??? I really think he would make a good Nazi.

Quentin seems to be taking the Dirty Dozen route which was also full of stars of that particular generation. Good for him - as long as the actors are good I ain’t complaining. I like both Leo and Brad, so it’s a thumbs up from me till now. 8)

I like Leo more than Brad actually. Leo can hold his own against Jack Nicholson, Daniel Day Lewis and Robert DeNiro. Hes one of the best younger actors.

Mark Wahlberg could play Donny Donowitz for sure. I think QT should just make IB a big Hollywood star vehicle (sounds like he is) and then have some of those great Euro exploitation actors in guest appearances.

There really only appears to be room for a few Hollywood stars however. The Bastards seem to be quite minor characters in the story, with only a few of them standing out. It’ll probably be filled with mostly European actors with a few big American stars in an around. It’s predominently a European movie - the majority of the dialogue will be in French and German.

Di Caprio is a very interesting choice because seeing him on the screen in a role like Landa would do the same effect to the public of today as what happened to the US audience who saw Henry Fonda appearing in Once Upon a Time in the West as a Major Bad Guy after tons of roles of heroic cowboys. Because yes Di Caprio had more ambiguous roles with Scorsese but not roles like Landa. If Di Caprio achieves the challenge, it might be worth seeing.

Holy shit, I think having Leo DiCaprio in there is the best news I’ve heard yet regarding casting. He is such a versatile actor and certainly one of the greatest actors today. His recent performances for Scorsese have been absolutely brilliant. I think this is a really good decision, and I’m all for the notion of getting the most talented actors of our generation to star in this WWII epic.

It would be interesting to see Leo playing a villain too. He never does those roles.

I like Leo. Come on, he’s a Scorsese favourite, which isn’t bad at all.

Oh no, not DiCaprio. Hardly any screen presence whatsoever. Pitt yes. Mdsen yes. Roth yes. DiCaprio fuck no.

Have you seen The Aviator?

DiCaprio hardly any screen presence?! Watch This Boy’s Life, Titanic, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Beach (this movie is pretty bad, but Leos good in it), The Departed. Hes excellent in all of those.

Screen presence also depends on the role and what the director does with it as well. QT could make Leo be the biggest badass ever.

See Henry Fonda in Leone’s OUATITW.

Leo is retarded. They shouldn’t even consider him for this role. He has the screen presence of a blob. Why is Tarantino even going with these A listers. They will overshadow the movie and it will become a Brad Pitt movie (or shudder a Brangelina movie) or Leo movie and not a Tarantino movie. I thought he was going to use Michael Madsen or Tim Roth or anyone but these bland A listers that we see in every movie.

I think if he used Roth or Madesen it would bring more focus to the script and the plot line and not have it focused so much on the personalities of the stars in it. :o :frowning: >:( :-X :-</E> :stuck_out_tongue:

Thats BS. Hes a great actor. QT has said many times, he casts his films based on who thinks would be best. It just so happened he never went to the A list each time he made his movies. This time he wants to use the popular names, so what? These guys are both good actors.

I dont think QT should be limited to the same actors each time he makes a movie. He said recently hes not going to write parts for certain people anymore. Hes just going to write characters and choose whoever he thinks could expand on it and make the character special.

I will concede Leo is a good actor but not Brad Pitt. He’s is truly a bad actor. Has anyone seen the assasination of jesse james ugh… I think QT just has a thing for blonds of any gender.
