Cast speculation/rumours

Guys don’t let the media and the crazy Angelina Jolie cloud your judgements, Brad Pitt is a fantastic actor and would fit right at home in a Tarantino film (you people forgot his unforgettable performance in True Romance?)

With that said though, I don’t see him as Aldo Raine. I read the script (IT’S SO FUCKING FANTASTIC) and although I am sure he could fit in the role because he’s a great actor, just from the page it seems like the role would fit a more older, badass-looking dude. Samuel L. Jackson, for example, would eat this role up.

Tim Roth as Lando would fit nicely, he’d have to learn German and French for some scenes and sound like he speaks them fluently but that could be worked around. Again, my personal preferred choice for this role would be Christopher Walken.

Michael Madsen would fit right in as Donny Donowitz (or The Bear Jew ) and I can’t think of anyone else who could be better.

Julie Dreyfuss would fit in any of the female roles, Francesca mostly or if not then the actress Brigite.

Steve Buscemi would fit in great as Stiglitz (a weird looking knife-welding Basterd, made such an impression on me I took his name for this forum :p)

As for the crucial roles of Frederick, Hitler, Goebbels, Shosana, Marcel and some other Basterds, I have no idea just yet.

Can’t wait to hear the official casting.

Looks like we have another QT masterpiece brewing in our midsts people!

I think Brad Pitt would fit well in a Tarantino movie… Angelina Jolie on the other hand… absolutely not. Having not read the script and knowing that the movie’s about a group of Jews that go on a rampage, why not have the actors that play them be Jewish? Wouldn’t that be more believable?

True, but who are you gonna get? Too bad Andy Kaufman is dead he could be a great crazy Jew. Hey how about Adam Sandler?

I don’t know…I image Donowitz as a very young man…

Roth as Lando, Dreyfuss as Francesca and Pitt as Raine would be PERFECT!

Please no Brad and Angelina. PLEASE!

Quentin, PLEASE! Please put Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in the film. PLEASE!

I’m drunk.
[/quote]

not so sure about Nimon, or… Fregg, either

at least Brangelina is kinda hot

Nick Frost would be good in a non speaking role, for the benefit of hardcore fans who’s recognise him and make the connection.

I wouldn’t mind Brad Pitt in this but what comes with Brad Pitt is the package deal of Angie and their 12 kids. Media attention.

Imagine the premiere…

I think Brad Pitt would be awesome in a QT film. As was mentioned, people let his celebrity intervene with their view of him as an actor. I know he has that fun-loving side (Fight Club, Ocean’s films, The Mexican, Snatch, Mr & Mrs Smith, Burn After Reading) but he has many different facets including a very serious, badass side (Jesse James). This dude can act!

I don’t think I’d like to see Nick Frost or Simon Pegg in there at all, in fact I’d hate that a lot. Those two in a WWII epic? C’mon, be serious.

I agree. But as I’ve said in another thread. What if QT isn’t taking this serious? (In the respect we;d liek to believe) I’m sure he’d tell you Death proof is 100% serious - homage / exploiation or not. Those are his friends these days.

Casting will tell us a lot!

Since this is a QT film, you have to remind yourself that the cast won’t be entirely made up of “today’s stars”. You’re bound to get the usual resurrection of slightly obscure actors/actresses from the 70’s. I’m sure the European side of the cast might consist of familiar faces of yesteryear. So who would you like to see?

Helmut Berger

Brigitte Lahaie

Udo Kier (I’d love to hear him speak German for once)

Erika Blanc

Giovanni “John Morghan” Radice

Seriously, that face belongs in WWII!

Alright, I can’t resist throwing one “Young name” in there:

Anna Thalbach

(If the script calls for a young German lady to show up…)

Id love to see all those actors. Any classic Euro exploitation stars would make it even sweeter. What about my personal fave lady Edwige Fenech? She should def be in it!

The coolest thing would be if QT did for those actors what hes done for our US actors like Pam etc. Perfect opportunity too. Esp when hes made such fans of many of them from him helping people to rediscover their work on DVD, film fests etc.

QT should ask Enzo to help him get all those actors together for a big reunion in IB. Franco Nero should be a German officer or something. Tomas Milian should be in there.

Buscemi would fit as the little basterd too.

Michael Madsen is EXACTLY who I pictured as Donny the whole time I read it! He’s PERFECT for it.

I think Uma could definitely play Bridget the actress. She’s got a good German look to her, and QT has said that she’s the only actress today that has that “Silver Screen” appearance that the actresses had in the 30’s and 40’s.

Watch him put Lohan as Shosanna. :?

I see Nick Frost as the French dairy farmer, Perrier LaPadite. He’d be great. Especially since he speaks a bit of French.

And I do think this is a masterpiece in the works! It’s perfect! I even teared up when I was reading the last couple of pages, it’s that perfect.

An interesting article on the casting of IB:

Minor spoilers regarding characters

My thougths… That’s a pretty damn good round up!

As much as I’m the fence about this movie, I really hope QT rounds up a quality bunch of actors with as much talent as those touted in that article. 8)

We’ll see! I dont even want to speculate anymore, cuz its QT call. We should be learning more about the rest of the cast soon anyways.

I feel ya P. I don’t feel like speculating anymore either. I can’t wait to see who QT picks for us though!

I cant stand Julie Deplhy…

Leo DiCaprio set to join IB?? :o :o :o

DiCaprio To Join Pitt In Tarantino's INGLORIOUS BASTARDS??

As much as I’m impatient about this movie I hope the casting ain’t gonna be for most part the one mentioned in the article. ;D Brad Pitt OK. Deneuve OK. De Bancholé OK. Madsen yes. Tim Roth yes. Herzog would be cool. Delpy is not much into QT’s cinema so it seems unprobable. But I hope QT will comme with actors more charismatics than the ones mentioned for the roles of Landa, Hirschberg, Von Hammersmark and Hellstrom. Mostly, I hope the role of Shosanna will be given to another actress than Marion Cotillard. From my French (:)) point of view, Cotillard’s handsome but she ain’t a revenge lady, she doesn’t have the combination of feminity and strong determination, the strong presence of a Pam Grier or a Uma Thurman.

Guys!!! I was trying to read this thread but I keep getting scared about spoilers! I don’t want to know anything about the script other than character background and who would be good in that role. I hate leaked scripts. I think I am going to have to turn off the internet.

I hope this a cruel rumor. I like Dicaprio, but this is starting to get into a “Lets get the biggest stars available” kind of thing. Who’s next Colin Farell? Johnny Deep? But I’m gonna have to wait and see how it turns out, it might be a interesting choice.
