Once Were Warriors was actually released on Criterion at one point. When Criterion put out laserdiscs.

Don’t even think about it looks weird!!! haha

I haven’t seen much “old” legendary french movies from Truffaut, Renoir, Melville, etc. yet, so I’m gonna stick to the last decade or so and name L’auberge Espagnole/Les Roupées Russes from Cédric Klapisch.

Or maybe it’s not the best from my country, just my favorites

It’s very funny movie actually. It’s a comedy and has many references to other (especially Hollywood) movies. There’s 3 main characters, one of them works in Video Archives and wants to become an actor. Seems familiar? Well, guess what? He thinks that QT is the greatest movie maker of all times. 8)

Wow, that is very cool!

That makes me think we should do an article on the wiki where we list the movies that reference QT in any way, I would like to watch those movies indeed!

You come from Russia and those are the films you pick?

What about Tarkovsky, Kalatozov, Eisenstein, Vertov, Pudovkin?

Never heard about them :-</E> Sell ok, heard about Tarkovsky and Eisenstein but haven’s seen any of their movies yet. And also, those are classics, everybody heard about them. I want people to learn something about modern cinema because there’s some good movies. My favorite russian director is Eldar Ryazanov. His movies are awesome. 8)

I hate all European films outside Britain.

I don’t see whats so great about watching Eisenstein these days…i mean he made a huge huge contribution to the evolution of cinema with soviet montage editing but i wouldn’t watch his stuff for pleasure unlike Murnau or fritz lang or any of the old great german expressionist guys.

I don`t see how Eisenstein has lost any of his significance in recent years. Battleship Potemkin is still as beautiful as it ever was. Even in light of the advances of what he basically initiated, his montage edits and juxtaposition is still as powerful and exciting as it ever was. I think I enjoy Tarkovsky and Vertov more, but I still find Eisenstein exciting.

Has anyone here seen Once Were Warriors?
