I still think that V-Cinema is far superior to the average straight to video market in any other country. It actually has positives to it. Sure, there are stacks of cheap looking v-cinema films that look like home movies and sure sometimes they are like bad tv shows, but it isn't really all like that. I wish our straight to video market was doing as well as Japan's. Plus, Japan is just a highly technological society. Every man and his dog pick up a digital video camera and go out and make a cheap film.
I know what you mean though. Exploitation died in a lot of countries though. I know, because I live in a country that used to make stacks of exploitation films (probably the reason Tarantino said it was his second favourite cinema in the world), but those days are long gone and I wish that they weren't, but that is just how it turns out.
Jackie did New Police Story. He's been doing HK films again for a while. It isn't like a big return.
