Asian Cinema Ticker

Looks like the ship sank in the water. ;D

Now that’s entertainment. He’s the next Andy Kaufmann.

“fuck your mother” and “go to hell” seem to be the most popular insults in China. Or maybe they just always translate it that way.

“You are lunatic” is the phrase, i read the most. From the late 80ies, early 90ies.

“Are you comfortable ?” also isn’t a good sign…

Is Gun Crazy: Beyond the Law any good?

I’ve seen a few positive reviews. I’m not too interested myself, though. I have some (really) bad experiences from Japanese V-cinema. Have you seen the first film (with Ryoko Yonekura)?

HUH? Half of Miike’s work is V-Cinema. V-Cinema offers creative freedom for Japanese directors. You just have to know what to pick I guess.

ok, I forgot Miike, sorry. And maybe I forgot something else too… It’s just that I can’t get over with what happened to the Japanese (s)exploitation cinema. How did the most artistic, innovative and exciting genre in the world turn into the kind crap we see today. Sometimes I accidentally associate all V-Cinema with those films…

Whats V-Cinema?

Straight to video

And what the hell is Andy doing with Miriam here :o ;D

;D

does this mean that Jackie’s going back to do hong kong movies? YEAH!

Post pics of your Asian-Movie fanstuff, like Posters and stuff. Bottomline, Fanstuff.

Here´s all i´ve got. Three Japanese posters.

:o Awe-some

Sweet, but aint that a big poster on the right? ;D

na, kinda small… almost a A4…they are japanese flyers from the theaters in japan.

What is on them! Now I wanna see :stuck_out_tongue:

ahh, you mean that one

now that´s a darn expensive Kill Bill poster! bought it from my friend for 10 kr :stuck_out_tongue:($1.3, £0.74)

I still think that V-Cinema is far superior to the average straight to video market in any other country. It actually has positives to it. Sure, there are stacks of cheap looking v-cinema films that look like home movies and sure sometimes they are like bad tv shows, but it isn’t really all like that. I wish our straight to video market was doing as well as Japan’s. Plus, Japan is just a highly technological society. Every man and his dog pick up a digital video camera and go out and make a cheap film.

I know what you mean though. Exploitation died in a lot of countries though. I know, because I live in a country that used to make stacks of exploitation films (probably the reason Tarantino said it was his second favourite cinema in the world), but those days are long gone and I wish that they weren’t, but that is just how it turns out.

Jackie did New Police Story. He’s been doing HK films again for a while. It isn’t like a big return.

According to chinabroadcast Super Girl Li Yuchun will play the leading role in Stanley Tong’s Mulan. I’m so happy they chose her instead of Zhang Ziyi
