A japanese James Bond parody (or something). Doesn’t look that interesting:

Schilling likes it, though:

Damn Yu Aoi looks good in this Honey and Clover poster. Now I almost want to see the film…
Also ran into another Yu pic by chance.
After a little bit of detective work I found out it’s from Mushishi (2006) (Bugmaster), a film I had totally ignored. Well, I’m still not convinced it’s a good film, but with the totally sweet Yu in it, the totally cute Joe Odagiri playing the lead and Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) sitting behind the camera, I think this one deserves at least a quick â€

Okay, I’m gonna be honest with you. This is not very me, but my first though was â€

Surprisinly the first review isn’t negative. But I still can’t think of any reason to watch this film. Maybe if Anne Suzuki played the lead role, then I’d watch this ;D

Sammo Hung dead?
I heard this on Sunday from a friend who came across a Japanese news report that Sammo Hung was dead. Apparently Jason Gray came across the same news and he’s blogging on the follow-up with plenty of links. No one’s picking up on this and Sammo Hung’s son denies it, but it’s not being retracted either. Maybe he’s just really sleepy?
UPDATE: it looks like the Chinese press mis-reported the story. Apparently Sammo Hung is very much alive and is extremely angry about the rumor. He received close to 1000 phone calls yesterday morning asking him if he was dead.

;D ;D ;D
Can’t be bothered to make a thread for this, so just as a general recommendation Gaichu (2001) is amazingly good. It’s very dark and won’t leave you feeling good, but it’s extremely impressive. Aoi Miyazaki gives yet another perfect performance (compare to her work in Eureka and Su-ki-da). But instead of trying to convince you myself I’ll let someone else do it: quote from IMDB:

a bleak and fascinating portrait of alienation
Harmful Insect is one of those magnificent films that makes the most extreme behavior comprehensible. It’s a portrait of intense alienation, centering on a seventh-grade school-girl. Sachiko lives her life surrounded by adults who are at best ineffectual and at worst (and they are very often at their worse) predatory.
Director Akihiko Shiota does not shy away from the dark, but the film is neither exploitative nor gratuitously gruesome. It is bleak and powerful, and the moments of hope, happiness, and humor stand out all the brighter for the vividness with which Sachiko’s psychological isolation is portrayed.

I love that. “Apparently Sammo Hung is very much alive and is extremely angry about the rumour”, lol. Imagine if everyone thought you were dead for a while. That’s hilarious. Especially if you got all these people calling you going, “oh, so you aren’t dead then”.

Unfortunately I don’t know the answer to your question, but I enjoyed the film, too. The opening is terrific.
And then something totally unrelated. 13.02.2008 at 0:10 Hung thought Sakuran could be a great movie (yeah, this isn’t the first time, but this is the first time after getting more reliable info about it). Anyway, I’m posting the time and date here so that I won’t deny it later ;D
i`ve searched all day in google an other things to try to find the ost…no luck
It’s been a few years since I last saw a promising jp trailer, but here it is; [b]Ame no Tsubasa (雨ã

Oh, and I wouldn’t even consider watching The Sinking of Japan (remake). Not even for the sake of Kou Shibasaki (I did that with Maison de Himiko, and ended up thinking Joe Odagiri was cuter ;D)
[/quote]
It’s “Scrap Heaven” where I found Joe Odagiri to be at his most cute. ;D
If I’d be watching that movie a second time around, it’ll be totally for the sake of Odagiri. Didn’t care much for Chiaki Kuriyama in that movie, wow. It’s a good one, although sometimes a bit of a bold “Fight Club” rip-off. Actually he’s somewhere up there on the Top-5 of my most favorite Asian Actors (acting-wise). Hey, didn’t we have a thread like that already?

Gotta see that

Well, Odagiri cuteness is alw… wait, you mean top actors thread? Oh yeah, I think we have it somewhere in the asian section.
OMG teh M0dz is spamming!!!111
Hey, we should set up a Joe Odagiri Fanpage. Strictly for the sake of picking up girls, though.
Speaking of Joe Odagiri Cuteness:
Now, seriously, who’s cuter?
Hmmm, gotta stop posting in this thread or i’ll turn me into a gay for good. ;D
we could throw these posts into the general asian movie talk before anyone notices. That’s where I usually dump all the garbage ;D
Or maybe an Odagiri topic in the actors board? What do you think?
Either way, I wanna post some odagiri pics later… I just need to find them from my hard drive first…
