I was just rewatching my old school, vhs recorded copy of the Oscar’s from Sunday and I am already dying to see next years. The thing about '08, is that, yeah, there were some great movies but nothing to write home about. No gems like last years No Country For Old Men or There Will Be Blood. But '09 on the otherhand, looks like it’s got some serious contenders. Just off the top of my head, there’s Scorsese’s Shutter Island, Clint Eastwoods Nelson Mandela project, Amelia with Hilary Swank, Nine with Daniel Day Lewis and Marion Cotillard, Michael Mann’s Public Enemies with Johnny Depp, Jason Reitman’s follow up to Juno, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s follow up to Babel, Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones among many others including one that I think we especially here at QTA are waiting for . I know it’s early but I think it’ll be cool to track this years progress and the films deserving to be appreciated on Oscar sunday a year from now.
