Guardian’s ‘1000 films to see before you die’ list here:
http://film.guardian.co.uk/1000films
How many have you seen?
Me: 233
what a crazy list, no ROYAL TENENBAUMS or HANA-BI, but ACE VENTURA and AMERICAN PIE.
no KILL BILL either…
i listen to film critics, but i never trust them.
i´ll check later how many of those ive seen, you´re number is impressive, ill be way below that.
I don’t trust critics, and I don’t listen to them either.
And that list is in way related to actual good films. It’s more like “how many of the following random 1000 movies have you seen”.
There’s a great book called “1001 movies you must see before you die” (edited by Steven Jay Schneider) and I think it’s a much better list.
361. But what a random list. I must see a film like Zoolander before I die? I’ve seen it and remember nothing of it.
No Kill Bill and no Death Proof, but they have Mean Girls. This list blows.

They probably wanted to include movies beginning with a “Z”, and that’s the best they could come up with.
422. There were lots, I mean LOTS, that I still haven’t seen in their entirety yet.
I counted the LOTR trilogy as seperate movies as well as Kieslowski’s trilogy since Blue is the only one that I’ve seen.
One problem I have with a lot of lists (especially Empire) is that they tend to mainly mention films from America and then some European films. So many great films coming out of Asia and as far as I can remember the only Asian film I’ve seen on an Empire list is Seven Samurai.
Probably because it would be mostly Asian films if it were up to people like us. At least it has Ikiru.
Is it me or is there a french bias. I’m not a big fan of french movies, being American, I don’t have a good enough attention span. Not to mention Premier magazine gives every new one a good review. Demonlover was a turd!

I agree. The book is great. The only downside is that they sometimes give away the ending, so I’ve stopped reading about movies I haven’t seen yet. Okay, that wasn’t true, cause it’s really good written.
