Songs that should be in a Tarantino Film

Post by Suvi » Tue May 31, 2005 11:48 am

The melody and everything are made for his films!

BIRDY / 22 PISTEPIRKKO (Finnish band)

HERE COMES MY DARLING
SAYING HELLO YOU
HEY WHY YOU LOOK SO WORRIED
WHAT'S SO WRONG WITH YOU

I FELT SOMETHING EVIL
LYING IN MY ROOM
IT MAKES ME REALLY SCARED
DON'T YOU FEEL IT TOO

I KNOW, IT DON'T REALLY MATTER
DOES IT REALLY MATTER
IF WE GO INSANE, MY DARLING
DO WE ALWAYS STICK TOGETHER
DOES IT REALLY MATTER
IF WE GO INSANE, MY DARLING

YOU SAID YOU SAW SHOOTING
ON A MARKET SQUARE
SINCE WHEN I HAVE BEEN DULL
TO SEE BLOOD IN EVERYWHERE
THIS TIME MAN WAS YOUR UNCLE
YOU WONDER WHAT WENT WRONG
HE ALWAYS LOOKED SO HARMLESS
WALKING ON HIS OWN

I KNOW ...
1.VERSE
CHORUS ....

I think really suitable song for his movie would be:
BIRDY / 22 Pistepirkko (this is a band from finland)

HERE COMES MY DARLING
SAYING HELLO YOU
HEY WHY YOU LOOK SO WORRIED
WHAT'S SO WRONG WITH YOU

I FELT SOMETHING EVIL
LYING IN MY ROOM
IT MAKES ME REALLY SCARED
DON'T YOU FEEL IT TOO

I KNOW, IT DON'T REALLY MATTER

WALKING ON HIS OWN

The melody is so Tarantino!

The song "Moment of Silence" by Streetlight Manifesto always reminds me of Kill Bill, it has these heraldic horns at the beginning and then breaks down into a Latin-tinged ska groove.

Human Fly - The Cramps
Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers
A little bit of tear - Burl Ives
Ain't nobody - Chaka Khan
Nobody's Listening - Linkin Park
World on a String - Frank Sinatra

Strange enough to be in one of his movies, yet it flows. Sinatra as a triumphant end song.

The Burl Ives song was in True Romance, Hopper sings it right before he goes to his trailer & Clarence & Alabama are there.

If he can use rap in kill bill, he can use the song 'nobody's listening'. which is kinda tame for Linkin Park. Have you listened to it? It would make a great murderkill scene song.

Alot of times QT has 2 use new songs cause he's music producers always asks him if they could get a new song on the soundtrack.

theres no music that fits into his movies unless he picks it. its not just about the song, its about the scene its playing with. the song and the scene are one thing.

you are just associating the leslie speaker with every other song that QT and RR use in their choice of music....fyi...a leslie speaker is a speaker that spins around in a box and the only time you hear it is when it passes the hole in the box....it was first used on hammond organs and became very popular among blues and 50's musicians....it was new at the time!  Later it resurfaced in songs by newer bands....Soundgarden's "black hole sun" is a perfect example.  They don't make them any longer so you have to be lucky and find one used $$$

It's definitely a good song, I don't know if it fits into QT's directorial style though.

I always thought Dead Girl by Acid Bath would of been really good for From Dusk Till Dawn.

I seriously think the music made to grace  Tarantino celluloid is Link Wray,
that old fifties guitarist
( I am aware one of his songs features in pulp fiction)
girl pop, you know, like the Ronettes, perhaps, but then Scorseses kinda claimed all the spector pop, damn.

Skinned by Blind Melon.  Its the 4th song on "Alphabet Soup".    It is from the point of view of a serial killer who uses body parts to make household items.

Interesting song... Not sure if I could imagine it in a Tarantino flick, but that's just my opinion.

I've always liked the idea of Ballad of a Thin Man by Bob Dylan being used.
And something by Johnny Cash, I couldn't choose a particular song though as he has a whole list of good songs.

At first I thought the "Skinned" song would be good for someone like Rob Zombie, but it's too happy/upbeat for Zombie.  If you hear it you'll understand why it would be more of a Tarantino type song.  It even has a kazoo solo in it.

Quentin used Tennessee Stud by Johnny Cash in Jackie Brown.  I was all like, "why would Ordell be listening to Johnny Cash?", but it's a brilliant song.  I'm in favour of using any Johnny Cash song, and almost any Bob Dylan song.
