QT talks about De Niro and his films

You don’t make up for your sins in church. You do it in the streets. You do it at home. The rest is bullshit and you know it.

And…

Johnny Boy: Joey Clams yeah, Joey Scala is Joey Clams…

Charlie: They’re the same person…

Johnny Boy: Yeah…

Charlie: Ayyyy.

Thats one of my all time favorite pieces of acting in movies between two people. I think that was all improvised too. Genius.

isn’t it Joe Scallop

I cant believe some of you guys still havent seen those films yet!! That stuff is like Movie Geek 101 stuff!!

And Mean Streets is so goddamn good I actually love it MORE than GoodFellas!

Here we are talkin movies and you guys havent even seen these Scorsese classics?!! WHAT THE FUCK?!! YA MOOKS!
Ahah Mooks, Mean Streets is definitively in my top 5 fav Scorsese. I love it. And I was very surprised too when I saw some haven’t seen those HUGE CLASSICS, MUST-SEEN, that’s the first movies a real geek saw, or at least you’re not a geek until you’ve seen those classics.

To me Goodfellas was great, but not amazing. I’ve heard that movie quoted so many damn times in music it’s totally ruined the experience for me. Personally, I’ve always been a bigger fan of Casino than Goodfellas.

I love goodfellas so freaking much I could watch it over and over…

“Funny how?”

Me too. I love Casino.

“When the FUCK did I ask you if I could come out here?! You’re bein warned… dont ever go over my head again …you Jew motherfucker you!”

Ah I liked this interview alot. The only movie they talked about that I hadn’t seen was Bad Lieutenant and thats very high on my to-see list.

Its very good movie IMO

Just picked up Once Upon a Time in America and Raging Bull. I was looking for Mean Streets, but Best Buy didn’t have any copies…

oh well!
Really bad he didn’t talk about Jackie Brown, I was really expecting to see that.

possibly cause the interview is 3 years earlier

Great set of interviews.

Mean Streets, it’s my favourite Scorsese movie, it’s brilliant, very relaxed, no big scams, no dramas, no bigshots, no Pesci with a record breaking number of the word “fuck” used. Totally love it. It’s also got awesome music, could be one of my favourite soundtracks ever.

I definitely agree, IMO it’s Marty’s greatest achievment in the realist department. The acting was great all around, DeNiro especially did a great job in one of his first dramatic and truly nuanced roles, and I for one consider Keitel’s performance his best of the '70’s. As well the music was a great mixture of pop, rock, and Italian folk music. It had everything from the Ronettes to The Rolling Stones, Derek & the Dominos, Smokey Robinson, and The Chips. Duke you should absolutely check out Mean Streets ASAP.

Thanks for the drop. Brief, but interesting insight on Raging Bull.

While watching Once Upon a Time in America, I found it interesting to find out where that little tune from Kill Bill came from…

It was also cool to see QT in an interview on the special features.

I watched “White Lightning” a few months back, a Burt Rynolds flick, and some of the soundtrack from it was used in Kill Bill too. I was Like all ooooooooh! Coooool! When the music came on. Pretty cool flick too.

There’s a Kill Bill tune early in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly as well, my first find.

Check out Lady Snowblood trailer on Youtube, you’ll find it very interesting reference-wise, no doubt, and it’s not music only
