Duck - 6/10 - Really grew on me after watching it.

Million Dollar Baby - 8.5/10

Hmm… Just mediocre, or slighty above average, you say? Any particular reasoning?

I apologize if I seem to be prodding. Just curious.

I thought it was an extraordinary motion picture.

Most recently I’ve seen;

Frost/Nixon-8/10

Gran Torino-7/10

&

Let The Right One In-10/10 Even upon a second viewing this film is excellent. In fact, it’s one of the rarest type of movie there is. One which becomes better upon revisiting it. Definitely one of the best films I’ve seen in quite some time, and should easily take the best foreign film catergory at the oscies this year.

They won everything at the Golden Globes last night. Haven’t seen the movie yet, haven’t seen Revolutionary Road either but it’s my most awaiting movie of the year, it’s released in two weeks here, and I can’t wait. I just woke up and read about Kate Winslet and the two actress awards she got there. She was nominated there for the sixth or seventh times in both categories and never had one. I’m so so happy. I hope she’ll get an oscar, she deserves it. Too bad for Leo btw, but it was hard to beat Mickey Rourke who’s been said as the favorite since almost a month.

I actually keep going back and forth on this one. I think I should have given it a 7, because it was above average, and not just slightly. BUT I didn’t love it, although it had a lot of good qualities, amazing camera work and an awesome soundtrack. I thought the first half was really good, but somewhere in the middle I felt it became a conventional love story, and I was really disappointed with that. It actually kind of reminds me of Blood Diamond and The Kite Runner in that it (the movie or Danny Boyle) doesn’t seem to completely understand the subject matter, and it comes across as a bit mellow dramatic and naive.

I also think I’m being harder on it because it’s Danny Boyle, and my expectations of his movies are very high. I think that’s a big part of it actually.

Milk - 7.5/10 - I thought this started off rather shaky, but about a 1/3 of the way through it found it’s feet. Sean Penn was great. I NEVER thought that I would ever refer to Sean Penn as adorable, but through the entire film I couldn’t help but say it. He was so cute ;D.

Josh Brolin also did a really good job, and he managed to make Dan White’s “character” somewhat sympathetic.

Fair enough. I can most definitely see your point. Thanks for the reply, btw.

Magascar: Escape 2 Africa - 6,5/10

Rewatch:

Showgirls - 10/10

Last Chance Harvey-7.5/10

I had great fun going to see this movie. I had a grin plastered across my face during the majority of the hour & a-half that I was in the theatre. Also, it was quite nice to see Dustin Hoffman & Emma Thompson work together as head-lining, co-stars. Especially after watching them work greatly as seperate supporting cast members in Stranger Than Fiction. I definitely recommend this one.

I just watched Swing Vote. I really liked it. It was a great story, and it was funny and emotional, Kevin Costner was really good, and that little girl was great, and it was beautifully shot.

4.5/5

Zack and Miri Make a Porno 4/10

If Smith ever had it, he definitely lost it with this piece of nothingness. What Clerks did for freewheeling cinema in '94 has now become a trick or formula to make crappy movies. Some parts were remotely funny though.

L’Ennemi public n°1 7/10

Bit too fragmentated for my taste. Cheap tricks and less style. Had expected more from it. But still a nice watch.

This was the last film I seen in the cinema too. I liked it, but that doesn’t say a whole lot for me. I think all Smith’s films are mediocre at best (including Clerks), however I think this was one of his better films. I actually enjoy his “Evening With…” DVDs more than most of his flicks btw.

Zak and Miri - 6.5/10

Last film watched: Breakdown - 7.5/10. Watched it twice this week since I bought it, ending’s a bit dodgy, but definitely one of the better thrillers to come out of the 90’s. Up there with The Hitcher, Duel and Mad Max for classic road movies in my opinion.

La Battaglia di Algeri (The Battle of Algiers) 6/10

Well made, but just not my cup of tea.

Pathfinder 6/10

Pretty poor some exciting moments

La Dolce Vita 5/10

Way too long, the last 40 minutes are terrible, an unsatisfying experience overall.

Throne of Blood (Kurosawa) 6/10

Shakespeare done meh. Scenes were too long, overall pretty boring.

Police Assassins (aka Yes Madam, english dub) 7/10

Good HK action, not the best comedy.

Rocco e i suoi fratelli (Visconti, Rocco and his brothers) 6,5/10

Interesting enough.

American Ninja 2 7/10

Good cheesy fun

American Ninja 3 7/10

More good cheesy fun

Independence Day 7/10

Wow, haven’t seen this since it’s theatrical release. Well made Hollywood summer blockbuster.

that’s exactly my opinion… even on Mallrats the 10th anniversary DVD, the Q and A with Smith is much funnier than the film itself… the bestthing he ever done is that piece about Superman on the first An evening with Kevin Smith… he should be doing stand-up instead of films!

That’s nice

…Oh, and your profile says you’re from Dulin… yummy :-*

You 're absolutely right there! I love him when he is just cracking jokes and shooting away anecdotes. He should do stand up.

i’ve just seen Run, fatboy, run. i love simon pegg, really, Spaced, Shawn of the dead and Hot Fuzz are among my favorite films and TV of the las 15 yrs. but this one… sucks. the script is shit, there are a couple of funny jokes but that’s it. it is really a bad, bad film. it feels like pegg got paid a shitload of money to do a quick rewrite on a shitty script. now that he has his first major screenwriting credit in Hollywood, hopefully, he’ll move to better things…

rumble fish 7/1o expected better

supersize me 8/10 fuck me portions are big in the states

the astronaut farmer 7/10 i love space exploration films and although this was far fetched i loved because ive been into space since i was a lil lad
