When she is in the wheelchair the music is playing - I believe that Isaac Hayes song and then it cuts off (very poorly edited) as she gets in the PUSSY WAGON

a minor beef. anyhow - I enjoyed myself and was surprised by seeing an old lady bring a young teenage girl in with her to see it. also a bunch of old old people were there to see it.

hope it makes GOOD money for QT!

o yeah i thought the anime was done well

Did anyone see a trailer for VOLUME 2?

I heard a rumor there was one but I didn’t see it after the credits were done…

I heard that the first vol 2 trailer wouldn’t be out until the christmas holiday season. Anyway, I saw Kill Bill this morning and I thought that it was just an amazing movie. I was so thrilled and excited all the way through it, when I realized that I had never felt this way watching a movie. I was so drawn to the story and the characters and what was coming up next. I read the script many months ago, and I had a better movie experience, I think, by doing that. It topped my expectations ten fold. There were however some small thing missing from the movie that were in the script that I thought he should have left in. For example:

**When the bride wakes up from her comatose state and kills the perv fucker, in the script she hears Bill whistleing and hears his boots clicking. Now maybe that is what she thought while she was on the floor, but the script says that the shot goes back and forth from Bucks tennis shoes( which is our point of view, and Bills boots( her point of view.) It sounded so cool in the script, and if you read the script you will know what I am talking about

**I hope to God that Quentin did not cut out the part of GoGo’s sister in vol 2. She is introduced in the script the same time as GoGo and the leader of the Crazy 88’s. I’ll have to go back to the script and check, but it would be a terrible loss if he cut that scene, but I am sure that if he did he would come up with something as equally as good.

All in all, this was the best movie I have ever seen. It was just simply brilliant!!!

If you’re talking about “Yuki’s revenge” he didn’t film that.

WOW! I think my retinas just jizzed their pants. They surpassed my highest expectations by far. Just love how the blood sprays. Don’t care too much for the style of anime though. And I could’ve sworn that people said that the movie ended when the bride was in the grave.

QT is a fucking cinematic genius. Not only did he make an instant cult classic film, he made a classic action film as well. ********** stars out of 4!!

I LOVED THE MOVIE!!! EVERY FRAME, THE MUSIC, EVERY SCENE WAS BEAUTIFUL!!

It surpassed my expectations and I can honestly say Kill Bill Vol 1 is the most daring, ambitious and exciting work of cinema Ive ever seen in my 29 years of moviewatching. It was a dream come true to see the film realized by The Master. Its my favorite Tarantino film so far. I dont care what anyone says, Pulp may have a broader story, but Kill Bill is fuckin PURE CINEMA!! And If you know me, you know thats what I love! 8)

The House of Blue Leaves fight was just transcendental for me. Ive seen ALOT of fight sequences in movies (particularly Shaw Brothers kung fu, Lone Wolf N Cub films etc etc), but that was just insanely beautiful. People were walking out during it, thats when I knew it was gonna get good!

My fav parts:

  • The ShawScope logo (awesome!)
  • The Brides face being wiped off my Bill and execution point blank (brutal as fuck)
  • DePalma’s The Fury style opening credits
  • The Bride seeing Vernita with the Ironside theme playing over her as she has the spaghetti western flashback (was I the only one with my heart ready to jump out my chest?)
  • The Bride Vs Vernita fight (awesome)
  • Elle Driver whistling the Twisted Nerve theme and the Giallo/DePalma style split screen sequence. The music/action reminded me of the final dream sequence in Dressed To Kill!
  • Buck (Michael Bowen)and the trucker sequence, the most disgusting jar of Vaseline in cinema, the slo mo reaction shot of Buck (reminded me of the slo mo end of the first 4 Friday the 13th films) and the door slamming Bucks head part fuckin rocked!
  • The ORen Anime origin = beautiful and VERY violent. Loved the look of it. Very haunting.
  • The Bride meeting Hattori Hanzo and his assistant. Sonny Chiba is a god in those scenes.
  • The Bride on her motorcycle watching Sofie Fatale.
  • The ORen Ishii, Yakuza meeting sequence: SLASH!! SPRAYYYY!! SQUIRT SQUA SQUIRT!
  • Go Go slicing that dudes belly open like a fish: SPLLLLATTT!! (in the script, that part was supposed to be Yuki)
  • ORen and The Crazy 88 entering the HOBL to Hotei’s “Battle without Honor or Humanity”
  • DePalma style Tracking shot of The Bride going into the bathroom
  • The Crazy 88s joking around with “Charlie Brown”. Hilarious.
  • The Bride slicing off Sofie Fatales arm. SQUIRT SQUA SQUIRT!!
  • The HOBL fight sequence (never seen anything like this before in my life it was ultra violent, gory, but also really funny . The fighting was just astounding, Uma Thurman kicked ASS!!! The Matrix is SHIT in my book. Uma is more of a badass than Neo, Trinity, Morpheus and Agent Smith combined. She was INCREDIBLE! Go Go Vs The Bride was brutal and so fast! That maceball was hardcore! THE THING THAT JUST GOT ME: The Human Beinz 60s garage rock hit “Nobody But Me” playing as The Bride dismembers the Crazy 88s!!! HOLY SHIT!!! I WAS LOVING IT!!! QT is a fucking mad scientist of cinema.
  • The aftermath of the fight with all the dismembered Crazy 88s moaning and the little owner lady trying to walk thru them all while she whimpers. LOL!!
  • The battle between ORen and The Bride. I was feeling the emotions on that one. They were old friends, now warriors fighting. Beautiful and heartfelt.
  • The Bride rolling the armless Sofie Fatale down the hill. That bitch got what was coming!!!

This movie was like a GOOD acid trip. QT has unlocked the box containing our movie geek dreams with this one. Hes got the key baby.

Everyone was wonderful in the film. Uma is a goddess of war Venus and everyone else just hits the mark: Sonny Chiba, Chiaki Kuriyama, Lucy Liu especially.

If you havent seen the movie yet, GO NOW!!! And bring your raincoats your gonna get ALOT of blood n guts on ya!!

Best Review Ever.

(not that I agree 100% with everything said, actually probably around 90%)

I agree. This was a wonderful movie. My only problem is that Bill isn’t quite the villain I’d like him to be…but I’ll post a new thread on that. I also thought that this is the most intense movie I’ve ever seen. EVER. I loved it.

Hey guys. I’m glad to read all your positive reviews on this movie. I can’t wait until I go tonight!! I’m feeling butterflies in my stomache from the anticipation.

My question is the song from the bootleg trailer #1 (the bootleg showing clips of Oren’s childhood in anime) used in the movie? I believe the song is called Death Rides A Horse and it sounds like a Kung Fu type of chant. What scene is it used in? I just loved the use of that track for the bootleg trailer.

Death Rides a Horse is a spaghetti western. Its the theme from that movie. I cant remember exactly where that theme is played in the movie, I think its in the Oren Vs The Bride fight.

In the movie there was so much music used I cant even remember all the songs, but heres the ones I remember:

Bang Bang - Nancy Sinatra

That Certain Female - Charlie Feathers

Ironside theme exerpt (Vengeance Theme)

Twisted Nerve theme - Bernard Herrmann

The Psychic theme - Riz Ortolani

Green Hornet theme - Al Hirt

Crane/ White Lightning - RZA

Battle without honor or Humanity - Hotei Tomoyasu

Woo Hoo - the 5678s

Nobody But Me - The Human Beinz

Bill not being the villain you’d hoped: Bills not even in Vol 1 that long. This might sound weird but I think Bill is the excuse, so to speak QT is using to create a revenge film. We all know The Brides going to kill Bill, dont we? Yes we do. Bill is almost the least important character as far as the movies plot goes, The Bride spends 95% of her time killing off the DiVAS, training anyways.

wow, this film is effective and powerful. i really wanted to see more.

the only parts that disturbed me was the amount of blood involved, the scene where the guy was paying Buck so he can rape Uma, and the history anime part of Lucy Lui’s character, i broke down on that part :frowning:

i have to watch it again!!

not that i didn’t like it, but i wonder why the history of O-Ren was included? it inspired sympathy for her, but later you cheer when she dies. kinda odd.

the only parts that really bothered me after the first viewing were the hospital sequences. the anime is intense if your theatre has good sound.

I am glad they had the history of O-Ren - it gave character depth.

My theatre had a poor sound system - next time I see it I will go to a theatre with DTS

One thing that’s a rip off - Pai Mei is in the trailer but NOT IN THE MOVIE!?!?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK!!?!??!

Fucking brilliant. Best movie i’ve seen in a long time. Going again in a few hours!

This was a fucking awesome movie. The only complaint I have is the split into two movies. I wanted to see the whole thing! The whole she-bang! ^^ Other than that, it was awesome, realized much better than I ever envisioned in the script.

Seriously, this had some pretty brutal scenes in it, the opening shot hits you, it’s like, fuck. Very cold and disturbing. Bride v. GoGo was an awesome fight, it actually looked like the Bride would lose for a second there. ^
^ Bride v. Oren could have been more drawn out I thought, but the setting was very nice. I think Bride v. Oren is more personal, less about the action and more about the characters, and the relationship between them.

Anime sequence was nice, I have no complaints. I don’t get why some people didn’t like it but to each his own.

The old-style credits and whatnot were very cool. And who can forget the Okinawa chapter, the soap opera dialogue had me laughing. ^^

Does anyone know what was said by one of the Crazy 88 just before the Bride yells out, “Oren Ishii, you and I have unfinished business!” (or something like that). It isn’t subbed, someone behind me was laughing, but I missed it. I don’t speak Japanese, I’m just a silly Caucasian boy. ^
^

What I enjoyed most about the film was its stance on the violence. Although exaggerated, it was not always a cartoon. There was a very personal and real connection between the characters, a certain ugliness to the revenge. It is very powerful, not just your average popcorn bullshit Michael Bay action vehicle. Of course the Crazy 88 being killed is not very personal, that is all visceral action. But the Bride versus her former partners (Vernita and Oren) has a certain subtext of regret and empathy that adds a lot to the movie I think.

Overall I agree with ToothpickVicVega’s summary (I just agreed with ToothpickVicVega? Yikes! ^_^). Seriously, an incredible film. I can’t wait for Vol. 2. And hopefully a 2 DVD set that combines both volumes, that will be tight!

I seen the movie and i love it but my friends had to act like they didn’t like it to bust my balls i guess or just to be dickheads, anyway i wouldnt mind seeing that movie over and over again i’m a hit hard when or if they put the movies back to back.

gets my thumbs up

First of all: there are scenes from Vol. 2 that are in the trailers: Pei Mei, Michael Jai White, Wedding Sequence, Elle vs. The Bride and so on. Little scenes that are supposed to hype you up, that’s all.

Obviously i give this movie 10/10. QT said in an interview ‘I want to blow you away with this movie. I want you to sit back and have a great time. I want you to say ‘Wow. I just saw a movie’’. That is exactly what he has achieved with me and some of you obviously (ToothpicVega for one, gotta tell ya man your review i’ve been waiting for.). An amazing achievement. I can’t say it is better that Pulp Fiction (my fav movie of all time, so it’s hard to top) but if Vol. 2 is as good…it just might!!!

My fav parts:

-Shaw Brothers Logo

-Opening Sequence (the best i’ve seen yet)

-Bang, Bang

-Ironside excerpt and amazing zoom toward Uma’s eyes when Vernita opens the door (Vic, im with ya, i felt the exact same way)

-Vernita vs. The Bride (amazing fight)

-Elle whistling

-Anime sequence (especially the murder of the mother) and western music.

-O-Ren in the conferrence

-Al Hirt’s Green Hornet and the way its used

-Sofie Fatale cursing in French

-SONNY CHIBA deserves special mention - he was amazing and had the best dialogue

-‘Wiggle your big toe’

-The fact that Buck’s head didn’t explode when The Bride was smashing it (believe me in most movies the head would split open or something) - very realistic and it showed when QT knew to be realistic and when to pay hommage to Kung Fu with unrealistic squirts of blood.

-‘Your limbs belong to me now’

-‘Charlie Brown, beat it’

-Go Go vs. Bride (probably the best fight sequence i’ve seen yet) the way Go Go snuffed it…god damn.

-O-Ren vs. Bride deserves special props for amazing set design with beautifully payed hommage to Japanese movies. I hated the fact that people laughed when O-Ren said, right before she died, ‘It really is Hattori Hanzo steel’. I felt for her goddamnit.

-Red Apples advert…hell yea

-the end…with the Death List and how we get snippets of what kind of reactions we’ll get from Budd and Elle. Amazing.

-The last song during the credits…the japanese one but not the one on the soundtrack.

-The fact that Sonny Chiba owns the song ‘The Lonely Shephard’

-Finally: UMA THURMAN deserves very special mention for keeping the movie together. Amazing preformance, energetic, emotional, heartbraking, funny and fucking cool. Excellent.

The Best Movie Of The Year By Far. It surpasses both Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown but is still behind Pulp. Kill Bill is the reason why i love cinema and Tarantino is the best director of his generation and many more to come.
