Alexander Aja?

Absolutely loved Haute Tension. The Hills Have Eyes remake was brilliant from technical point of view but it really loses a lot of its effect if you’ve seen the original because the story and events are almost the exact same. Only the ending is different, and it was wonderful. So, I’d actually recommed people to watch the remake first. It’s only possible to love one of the films so let it be the Aja version. It would be a far superior film if it’s wasn’t such a direct copy.

Totally agree!
i watched the hills have eyes remake first and was blown away with the brutality of it, then watched the original and was like well that wasn’t as good lol. I can remember watching Haute Tension i think its high tension here in aus but thats off point, i fucked up the times of a screening of it on TV and caught the final moments of the movie and it looked so damn scary and well shot! need to watch the rest of it!

If you saw the ending then that ruins the entire movie. But you should still watch it.
I’ve seen it twice myself. Showed it to a friend who hates anything french and he liked it too. Then I borrowed my dvd to a bunch of friends and every single one of them hated it. No offence to them but they’re a bunch of fools.
Strange to say that I’ve never heard of a few of those! Like "Cutting Moments/Set Pieces"
Still haven’t seen “August Underground’s Mordum” either. I’ve heard it’s similar to the first Guinea Pig movie (NOT “Flower Flesh/Blood”) which acts as a wannabe snuff film.
(Stepping away from all the nasty stuff for a moment)
Nav, If you liked the zany splatter of “Dead Alive” check out Premutos. It’s not as good, but it’s a decent companion.
I have heard Baise Moi and run and kill(i’ve had my eye on this movie for awhile now) are really disturbing.
Run and Kill only has one “shock” scene
Base Moi’s a porno with a few unconvincing violent scenes (Aside from the rape at the beginning)
Everybody told about Baise Moi in France, of course, like Irréversible, same stuff. The female director only became famous because of that movie, which has been refused in almost every theaters, unlike Irréversible.
Yeah im dying to see Irreversible, I keep reading good reveiws for that movie.
yeah im gonna hire it next weekend, i liked the way it was shot so it really made me wanna watch the whole movie!
Irreversible is an actual good film. Baise Moi is decent trash that can’t be recommended for fans of “good films”.
For Run and Kill you have to get the French HK Video release because it’s a longer a version than any other dvd available and reportedly “like a new film” with “simon yam extremely insane” in that version
dont watch irreversible… ur life would be much better without it… most intense best acted rape scene ever… unlike movies like I Spit on Your Grave… ITS DISTRUBING!!! Rape/female abuse and car crashes disturb me the most…
Anyone ever watched The King? I recommend everyone here to watch it… Theres no blood, no gore, no exploited sex, however its the sickest movie ever… Plus Gael Garcia Bernal is the star… Its sick, but its clever, symbolic, deep and has a message! Plus Best ending youll see in your life… It will just leave you with your eyes poppin and your mouth open… I think its the most controversial movie of all time…
Ahhh Gael is always the king, great movie of course.
lili did u watch the king? IMO the dad deserved everything he got from gael… btw yall cant include guys like
Eli Roth
Alexandre Aja
Neil Marshall
James Wan
Leigh Whannell
Darren Lynn Bousman
Rob Zombie
Theyre still newbies… I mean if anyone compares these guys to Miike or Deodato then the world has come to an end…
I saw some Lucio Fulci films on your list so your familiar with the guy but he should be on that list with miike and deodato, right?
If a single movie recommendation is okay you might want to try Yasuharu Hasebe’s infamous Assault! Jack the Ripper (Boko kirisaku jakku) which is supposed to be a masterpiece. He’s done some other highly aclaimed violent pinku films too like Rape! 13th Hour as well as some “mainstream exploitation (oriented)” films like my all time favourite Meiko Kaji film Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter and the slightly disappointing finale to Shunya Ito’s jaw dropping Female Prisoner Scorpion series (Grudge Song).

I have always found Virgin Spring’s rape scene to be disturbing. If car crashes scare you, you need to check out Crash
you mean the cronenberg one ofcourse… ive watched it… and hung fist i agree with you on fulci, but to me hes just a more extreme romero… i mean his movies r filled with gore, but they dont kick you in the nuts like cannibal holocaust or audition for an example… like the wood splinter through the eye scene in zombi 2, is so cheap, unreal and i quiet found it hilarious… but anyone who thinks cannibal holocaust is hilarious is a psycho…
