What dvd did you just buy (part 2)

Gentleman, If i say that I am extremely jealous, you will agree.

;D

Ichi the Killer, finally watched it i was amazed

Also got OZ season 4, hitman, and 300 (blu Ray)

Awesome that you finally got A Scene at the Sea. It’s a Masterpiece, and perhaps Kitano’s second best film.

But, cancel that Legend of the Eight Samurai dvd now. dvd pacific is selling the R1 Samurai Collection for an Amazing price of 8.65$. It features Legend with superior subtitles and picture quality, plus two other movies: G.I. Samurai and Ninja Wars (with Noriko Watanabe), again with superior picture and subs (certainly for Ninja, as I have compared myself, and most likely for G.I.)

Bounce ko gals is a bit sentimentialistic, but I love that film a lot. It was the film that originally got me into Japan when I was a kid (sounds a weird considering the film’s theme, I know ;D)

Ah, damn, I forgot; you already told me that, once. But it’s too late now, got it from ebay and I already paid. Well, at least “G.I. Samurai” will be included in the UK Sonny Chiba Collection Vol.2, which I’m also planning to buy anytime soon.

Yeah but it’s cut, converted from a NTSC source, and with shitty encoding. The R2J Special edition has an excellent picture quality and extras, and I’d assume the soon-to-be-released R1 2 Disc SE to be a similar package.

Are you talking about “G.I. Samurai” here? Since I don’t mean the Momentum Asia Single DVD release, but the “Sonny Chiba Collection Vol.2” from Optimum, which includes “Bullet Train”, “G.I. Samurai” and “Golgo 13”. Where did you read about it being cut (which would pretty much suck)? :-</E>

G.I yes.

There is no Momentum Asia dvd. Optimum released the single dvd, as well as the box set.

As for the cuts:

Well, in that case I’ll still keep the RC1-Boxset in mind, thank you.

As far as “Bullet Train” is concerned, the single release from Optimum seems to be a good choice, though.

Love Hotel (Somai directing a Takashi Ishii script… stranger things have not happened)

Painful Bliss: Final Twist (Horrible cover, kick ass movie)

Don’t forget about Ryuhei Kitamura directing a Shunji Iwai script (“BandAge”); THAT’s what I call strange.

Otherwise I don’t think you’re gonna enjoy “Blood” very much; it’s probably much too shallow and commercial for your taste. “Feels like the trailer to something much bigger, which sadly never comes.” (quoted from my Blog with permission by me). Strangely enough I still consider this movie a keeper; has something, maybe it’s just the visuals, but can’t put my finger on it . . .

Admittedly that is pretty strange. But you know what would be even more strange? Shunji Iwai directing a Ryuhei Kitamura script ;D

I’ll have to see about that myself. I got it used from amazon for £1.89.

How good is Black X-mas anyone? Not the remake.

I think it’s probably one of the best slasher films ever made. Right there next to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween films, and if nothing else it’s certainly damned entertaining. An interesting side note is that it was directed by Bob Clark who would later direct A Christmas Story which, while also having christmas in the title, is an entirely different bird as I’m sure most of you know.
