What do you do for writers block

Also:

Eavesdropping - go to a cafe and listen to other people’s conversations, i listen to people talk all the time, it gives me ideas as well as a feeling of naturalistic dialogue.

that was one of the first things we did in my writers class lol

Do drugs

Hahaha. I was reading through this thread, and was wondering why no one posted that. When I get frustrated with a script, I go light one up and meditate.

Of course, then I tend to encounter the small problem of getting a great idea, but then not getting back to writing. Cos by then, I really just can’t be arsed.

Good thing it’s a hobbie and not my job.

I can’t write for shit on drugs. If I do it’s usually just small things like a scene or a line of dialogue that doesn’t fit into anything I happen to be writing at the moment. I get most of my shit done drunk or really tired.

It’s weird, I always get a really strong urge to write after watching a movie or a tv show but usually nothing comes out. The one thing that works more often than not though is to go over my notes or go back a few pages in the script and just start “tweaking” things a bit to get the flow going.

Yeah! I can write like crazy when I’m drunk! Problem with that is, when I sober up and read it, it’s shite. But, it occupies a few hours of my time, and gives me a much needed escape from my very boring, and somewhat sad reality.

last time i tried writing on drugs i couldn’t remember the day and looked at pages and it was some crazy fucked up shit we actually gonna make about it because of how random it is

Yeah, same here. I often times find sentences that don’t make any sense. But, for me it’s a lot easier to turn shitty writing into something decent than it is to do it from scratch so it works out in the end.

Right on. I wish I could turn my drunken writings around. I usually read them and am embarrassed at my own words. lol For some reason, sometimes everything either turns into Kevin Smith style humor, like genitalia and blow job jokes, or it just turns into straight up porn.

I once wrote 8 or 9 pages of fucking. And there was no reason for my characters to even be fucking in the first place. They just went from trying to hunt a demon, to horny.

Seemed great at the time though. Hot.
