What did you just sell?

Your case is unique I give you that, since you’re a huge fan of Asian cinema and all. I guess if you want to watch the majority of Asian movies you have no choice but to buy them. As for myself I rarely buy any Asian films except for the ones everybody has seen, so it’s a different case. But I totally understand your situation.

As for imdb, it ain’t perfect. No rating system is. But I usually find it quite trustworthy. I don’t always agree that movies that have a low rating are necessarily bad, but I could safely say that 99% of movies with a high rating are normally worth checking out.

;D ;D ;D

I know my case but I’d expect other people have similiar situations with other genres (that I know nothing about). A giallo fan must have hard time finding reviews in any understandable language (other than Italian) for rare hidden gems. A spaghetti western fan must have it even harder as many classics have only been released in Japan and I don’t expect a spaghetti fan to be very talented in searching japanese language info (which is extremely hard even for me for some reason). And all the other European and South-American films, I know so little about them that I don’t even know to what problems you ran into with them…

I am usually good at picking films I want to see. The majority of what I watch is asian cinema, but I don’t often buy something just to watch it. I only buy what I really want to see and then I usually like them. It might seem narrow-minded to not experiment as much, but there are so many awesome films out there that I don’t see the point in rummaging through crap or small films until I find a hidden gem. I look for the gems and then buy them. Honestly, I don’t really have any dvds in my collection that I am ashamed of. No one really buys me dvds for gifts except my parents and they know what I want.

Just for the record, I don’t believe having a big collection means a lot of films I ain’t proud of. But if you really want to know why I never sell anything, it has something to do with what I said about Pokemon. I am incapable of selling things I have collected, it’s like a mental thing. I’d rather just not get things I may not like in the first place.

I also jump out on a limb sometimes, but I usually pick them well. If they aren’t a particularly well made film, at least they no doubt have something I am interested in. Live action anime films for example. But then again, you sell heaps of films that you like but don’t love. A lot of the films you sell I have in my collection and wouldn’t sell. Your bar is set very high. You have something I don’t have, you can let go. Even if I know I like a film but wouldn’t watch it again, I still can’t bring myself to sell it.

I have 3 movies i regret buying

Halloween 5

Friday the 13th part 7 i think…

and… The Mangler The Mangler (1995) - IMDb

There isn’t many dvds I regret buying, hmmm… My Wife is a Gangster would be one as I bought it without a real reason, and Sengoku jieitai which I ended up buying thrice (should’ve gone for the R2J SE immediately)… but I can’t really think of anything else

What kind of shitty plot is that?? ;D

Okay this movie is a great example that Stephen King can write anything and sell it. “Okay there’s these…washing machines but they are really demons…okay?” He could write about two desk lamps and make it into a cool story.

upgrade

good, but not good enough

crap, just as I thought

got better edition

20€ in total

Did a new one come out? Because the Australian Eastern Eye edition is to my knowledge the best Ong Bak dvd available. No others have both versions of the film. What one did you get?

No.

It never was.

Why should? The Besson version is waste of space.

The old Thai dvd, which has much better picture quality. The audio needed a bit custom fixing, but it’s now better than the EE, too.

Oh, okay. I assumed that was the case. For some deep psychological reason, I prefer to own both versions of the film. But I guess if the Besson version means nothing to you then there are better versions. I’ll never watch the Besson version again, I am sure, but I like to have it anyway.

Oira sukeban (HK / probaby R0)

Crap. 3,70€

Lost Season 1

Great show but I can’t seem myself watching it again.

17€ (that’s 0.95€ less than I paid for it)

Curse of the Golden Flower (R3 Edko)

Not much (enough) above average. 6,70€

Once Upon a Time in the West (R2)

upgrade, just ordered the R1. 8€

Peking Opera Blues (Joy Sales)

I prefer my old non-remastered MegaStar. Better audio. So this is basically a downgrade 6.70€

3€ each. Dollars was an upgrade, Woodsman I’m just getting rid of. It’s a great film, though.

Hopefully you ‘downgraded’ to the VHS version

[/quote]

Why?

…I own the DVD version of Fistful of Dollars. I rented the VHS version not too long ago.

The VHS version almost put the DVD version to shame. I hate that VHS isn’t fullscreen, but I’m ‘downgrading’ A.S.A.P.

I can guess For a Few Dollars More is just the same.

I sold my soul for a 40.

Why would a person purchase crap movies in the first place? He must either be retarded or he likes wasting his money.

What’s wrong with being retarded?
