I suggest u don’t take offence by his whole “western cant handle violence as well as the Asians" thing… he just means that Americans/ Europeans “mainstreamâ€? audience (not the “movie buffâ€? community) aren’t as well adjust 2 violent movies as the Japanese/Asian audience (which is probably true 2 the most part). I’m sure he is not putting down Americans audience as he is one…
Exactly. Keep in mind this is just Japan we’re talking about. Other Asian countries are all very different from one another (especially when it comes to movies) so don’t lump them all together. It is just a cultural thing and it’s
not that Japanese audiences can take more violence/gore. That’s ridiculous. Their culture is just more accustomed and tolerant of things like that. It’s the same deal with things like nudity and curse words. That doesn’t mean things aren’t obscene. Things just aren’t as obscene as it would be to other cultures.
However, Quentin does seem to have some kind of misunderstanding about the whole thing (“You guys can handle it!) but I think that’s just his enthusiasm and is nothing to take too seriously. I think he’s just taking advantage of the less strict guidelines for the Japanese release of Vol. 1.
