Last night I watch PF again and as i was fast forwarding the movie i noticed that Uma and Quentain kinda look alike. if you don’t beleive me go and try it yourself and i promise that this trick will work.
There’s no way i jerked off to a Quentin look-a-like multiple times. >:(
lol what?
when i watch pulp fiction i think uma acts in a way quentin might…like she was copying the way quentin had showed her
particularly in the jack rabbitt slims scene … when she gives the speech about having broken her promise for being offended it is how quentin would say that. They do have physical similarities but uma is certainly far more asthetic

Just like in RD when he was giving that interpertation “I’am a Virgin” by Madonna?
QT’s dialogue is essentially like the kind of stuff QT would say. Every character in his film is a spokesperson for QT. All of QT’s films are totally an ode to himself.
By the way, this topic is fucking retarded.
Is there a reason why are being so rude, IL Buono? I haven’t seen you be nice to anything or about anyone. The internet is a great outlet for repressed anxiety, but people deserve respect even over a computer.
Thank You Cujo King

"Uma Thruma and Quentain Tarantino"
I bet somebody was jerking off when they made this topic

true but the best actors (samuel and john for example) will make the parts their own

I have to kind of agree, but thats what i love about them. They dont nessecarily have a huge point to them, but they’re cool and interesting, and if you want to dig deep we can all sit around discussing the meanings of random stuff in QT flicks, (like we do ) but alot of it just feels like he simply enjoys creating charcters and stories, thus he does.
I find it funny that both names are spelt wrong in this topic’s title. But Uma Thruma has a nice ring to it.

I’m not a bad person, I’m a brilliant person, I’m IL_Buono’s favourite person. But every once in a while, as you say; I can be a real cunt. It helps cool me down, sorry.

I didn’t say otherwise! QT gets brilliant performances from every one of his actors, they totally make the parts their own. It still doesn’t disprove the fact that characters saying what they say is 100% Tarantino. It’s Tarantino presenting his thoughts and opinions by other means. His dialogue, heck almost every aspect of his films are an ode to himself.

Oh yeah, totally. When you hear QT’s characters talk, you would not be surprised to hear QT say something not entirely dissimilar.

He does enjoy writing characters and stories yes. QT is what we call a “method writer”, similar to a method actor. He totallt immerses himself into whatever character he happens to be writing. When he was writing Beatrix’s dialogue, he BECAME Beatrix. I think this is partly the reason his characters feel so real in what they say and how incredibly interesting they are. Not everything is there to move the plot along. Often, QT’s dialogue is part of the characterisation, where others may use acting to portray this, QT uses dialogue.
There are of course as you rightly stated “meanings” to most if not all the things he does. In this context, his dialogue can take beyond a singular meaning. Often, one line of dialogue can mean up to 3 different things. This is a testimony to his genius writing ability. If you look through his work, analyse the dialogue, you will see that they can have double meanings, they can give clues to an aspect of the story, they can serve as pop culture trivia etc.
i agree with what you’re saying IL_B … i am talking about performance not the writing
example … i am a song writer and a decent singer but my sister is a sensational singer
but sometimes i feel when she sings a song i have written she is copying the way i sing it
but i don’t have her ability and she could take it to the next level
similarly for pulp fiction (and i love mia’s performance) but i feel like mia is copying the way quentin may have shown her how it he wanted it … but sam and john took it to a new level that quentin would not have been able to show them as an actor himself
it’s like “my sharona” is a good song but it is a sensational performance
and has produced a higher quality end product (an over achiever)
