no reason, because it looks cool and old school, kurosawa like

because it wouldnt look half as cool if it was shot in real life, it would be impossible to shoot it actually

1 - To get past the american censors without getting a nc17 rating, hopefully the directors cut is in color or I will cry like a little girl.

2 - Also to get past censors since you can’t show a 12 year old girl having sex with an old dude then gutting him and shooting his body guards in the head.

Alright, I deffinatley agree with them not being able to show a 11-12 year old doing such violent acts. But what do you mean by your first statement…how does a scene being black and white help with lowing censorship? The only thing that scene being black and white would make “better rated” is the fact that the blood isn’t such a bold red color to make it seem more nauseating.

I’m thinking…maybe the black and white scenes have to do something with a more artistic view on beatrix kiddo’s past…; The black and white showing her flashbacks that are most significant to the storyline.

You don’t know. In the movie the cartoon sequence was perfect, but I would love to see it shot with actors and everything.

And it allways bugged me, why people do not use the Kill Bill Biard to ask about Kill Bill abd why people do not use the topics about their questions ;)

can anyone help? ;D ;D

Anyway, here you go:

There is a topic, which starts with the question:
how comes that some scenes in kill bill has to be showed in black and white while a movie like the passion of the christ seems to have no problem with the censorship?
You can find it here:

There is a topic about the member´s opinion of the b & w scene:
"the whole black and white fight scene is a nod to the old samurai films, and it works perfectly.if that scene had been showed in colour,it may well have been somewhat of a sensory overload.by having that scene in black and white you are being forced to focus purely on the fighting, and thats important.this scene is so beautifully choreographed, and thats what he wants you to see.not just the gore.it switches back to colour just after the fighting has stopped, and thats when you see the trail of carnage the Bride has left.its brilliant"
seriously.together with the soundtrack the black and white is fucking perfect.when you have a battle like in b&w like that,it like automatically makes that scene epic.a piece in cinematic history that is fucking untouchable.sorry you didnt get it
You can find it here:

And here is a HOBL discussion too:
