True Romance (director's cut)

[color=Purple]uhhh yeah i think the reason he didnt direct those movies was because she sold them. Which i have seen him say in an interview. He didnt own them anymore.

Not so he could do Pulp Fiction. Because he sold True Romance to fund Reservoir Dogs.

he explains this thoroughly in the audio commentary

The extra scenes and cuts are excellent and the commentaries by scott are really cool and informing…but what I dont understand is why are the scenes left out of the directors cut that scott found cool enough to put in?

like the pussy scene…why is that not in the directors cut? and the extended intro? etc

I am confused…whats a directors cut without the cut that the director wants? its just a special edition then…

the director’s cut for example features more violence, and the happy end. the theatrical cut had a sad ending.

yeah but in the deleted scenes scott says he likes the extended intro and the pussy scene…and why did he not put that in? this would be his chance…

What?? Did the theatrical cut have QT’s ending (where Clarence dies)??

No it didn’t.

So what sad ending is Seb talking about?

Seb’s wrong…the theatrical version featured the happy ending just like the director’s cut. QT’s ending was filmed but was never included in any version of the movie.

really? i am not saying the theatrical cut had QT’s ending. i thought the theatrical cut had the Tony Scott version where clarence doesnt wake up and she is at the beach alone… am i wrong with this?

Two seperate endings were shot for the movie. One is the happy ending we all know about. The other is when Clarence dies while Alabama escapes the hotel alone and hitches a ride. Scott preferred the happy ending right from the start and that’s what he chose for the theatrical release. QT himself admitted that the happy ending is more suited with how Scott filmed the whole move. That’s the way I always knew it anyway.

No, the scene where Clarence doesn’t wake up is QT’s original ending, the sad ending, and that wasn’t placed in the film but made the extras in the Director’s Cut. I’m sure Scott brought in Avery to write the new (happy) ending!

I can’t find the full answer in the comments. I need advice!
I am now obsessed with True Romance after watching it on Amazon Prime video in the UK.
I have just ordered the DVD (unrated Director’s Cut) to watch with a friend.

SPOILERS (and questions):
In the Amazon Prime version there is a scene where Alabama is thrown through the glass into the bathtub, the movie has a happy ending and there is a pussy-eating discussion scene. I can see people in this thread discussing differences between the two versions but I just really want to know which version the Amazon Prime UK version is as I’ve ordered the DVD to watch with a friend and I don’t want to show it to my friend if it is a different version (and we will not be able to use Prime to watch the version I have become accustomed to).

Here people mention that in theatrical version Alabama is not seen to be thrown through the glass and the ending is sad - Prime features the happy ending and you see her thrown through the glass.
In regards to the pussy eating scene, I’m not sure what people mean by extended - it is a funny scene but it isn’t long in my opinion - it is one guy saying he would never and the others making fun and saying he would suck dick if he smoked enough and then Drexl goes to give a demonstration and shoots them. This is the version that is in the Prime video version so is there an even longer version of this or is that the long version?
Also, some people say that in some versions you do not meet Drexl until Clarence does so which version is that? I assume the theatrical release and that perhaps there is no pussy eating scene in the theatrical release then?
Also, in the thread there has been mention of a longer intro - I assume this is the one where it goes from Clarence speaking to a woman at the bar, then music and scenes of Detroit and eventually Alabama’s voice over? I don’t imagine there would be an even longer version?

Honestly, I’ve looked and looked and cannot find where it specifies which version is on Amazon Prime UK and that is the version I want lol.

Any help?

not sure if or why the pussy eating scene may be missing from the theatrical cut. our recommendation is to get the Arrow BluRay set which includes both the old theatrical cut and the preferred director’s cut, the main difference being in the ending but there are also other minor differences which can be googled.

Oh, I don’t use Blu-Ray. I’ve received the DVD and will check on those differences and let you know what I find!
