Top 10 directors list

No, I didn’t. Just said it was a smaller, more intimate movie.

See, here we have the problem. All you movie cynics out there, all you fuckers with your “been there, done that” - attitude - you piss me the fuck off. Movies used to be able to have great melodrama and used to be able to have dramatic music to support dramatic action on screen, until you all started rolling your eyes and shouting “cliche!” at everything. Oversaturated bastards, all of you. When we watch a movie like Watchmen, we should be like Charle in Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, not like the worlds toughest film critic. That’s what’s wrong with audiences today.

It’s funny you mention Rachel Getting Married because I walked into a sneak preview of it, and walked out again after 10 minutes because of everyhing about the movie pissed me off, worst of all the shakey cam. And I was not into the mood for a movie like that on that day.

And walking out a film isn’t being the world’s toughest film critic? I don’t get why people walk out of films. I sit through even the worst garbage.

And your type are predictable, calling me a cynic because you think I have bitter outlook on cinema and I walk into films expecting everything to be bad. What do you know? Nothing apparently. If that was true I wouldn’t be on a Tarantino forum…the elitist cynics you speak of hate Tarantino and dismiss him as fluff, believe me I know lots and I belonged to a group of Cahier Du Cinema-ish motherfuckers called the Celluloid Sodomites. But while they hate Tarantino, in high school I wrote a 24 page essay on Jackie Brown. I’m quite open minded. You have your knowledge, Kenneth, you do and I’ll give that you, I’ll also give you that you’re a smart guy but seriously, if you think that cheapening art for money is “just business” and excusable, you have your heads in the clouds. You’re talking about strictly Hollywoodism viewpoint on cinema here. Believe it or not, the Czechs, the Poles, the Scandanavians, the Filipinos make films too. Hollywooders may think that it’s the center of the world but it’s not.

I’m well aware too that “the best film of all time” will never be a legitimate and serious title for anything. Some asshole in Siberia with a camcorder and some friends right now is making a move that could change the world, offer incredible insight into the human condition and bring peace to the lands but we won’t know it. Because he’s a 25 year old Siberian kid with a camcorder.

But if you like your films roided out their ass with poor taste, poor and shallow visions than please, go ahead, you’re smart guy and I’m sure you have your reasons. But please, don’t act like you’re so much more better, open-minded and fair than those “cynics” out there. Because it’s the guys who second guess the norm and question what’s written that make the world go round. You have a huge superiority complex yourself if you think you’re in a position to discredit them.

Art wouldn’t be art if there weren’t different levels of it. Some can recognize the difference (Educated eye a.k.a. the cynic elitists) and others can’t (ignorant eye) and some choose to ignore it all together. But that doesn’t mean you can dismiss their opinions because they sat through years of lectures in a college hall to learn the difference. They should be rewarded with the right to shit on bad films.
