It means he’s self righteous and feels so strongly about his own personal conquests that he even manages to give off the impression that he’s a saint and pillar of moral stability, when, in fact, he’s leaving a wake of corruption, death, and greed wherever he goes.
Even his decision to leave the Bride alive, despite the fact that it comes off as honorable, is, at its root, a selfish act that leads to the deaths of those that depended on him the most, good or evil.
