A LOT of Simpsons episodes contain a moral, a lot of them are tearjerkers and stuff, but they always manage to end up with a joke still, and eventually it is never too serious.
If they did not ever try to go deeper than just comedy, they would not have that quality. Some episodes are pure comedy, some are serious. I love the diversity, it’s got a lot of dimensions
